About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I aim to work hard to make a future for myself while enjoying the present and enjoying the company of as many wonderful people as possible!
ABOUT ME
My girlfriend and I left our jobs in the Silicon Valley to embark on a 6 month road trip across the US and Canada. I'm a software developer, and I'll be building software as I travel. I'm looking to experience anything and everything that I couldn't within the confines of working life.
I'm very easy going, and I love meeting people. I'm flexible, and when I travel I try to take it easy and enjoy my time and the people I'm with. I find something in common with almost everybody I meet, and I love to learn from people.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is constantly changing as I experience new things. Generally, I try to treat others well, constantly learn and grow, and make decisions based on the fact that time is finite and life is wonderful.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm hoping to Couchsurf a lot during this roadtrip. I'd also love to meet up for a coffee, beer, or just to hang, if you're not available to host (coffeenbeer.com). I'm traveling with my girlfriend, and we have an empty back seat, so we'd be happy to host on the road if you feel like taking a mini-trip with us. Looking forward to making some friends!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've not yet hosted or surfed, but I'm looking to. So far, I've only met a few members of the community and really enjoyed my time with them.
Interests
My career is software, as is my passion. I love all sorts of music, and I play guitar and ukulele. I love languages; and I've studied Spanish and Vietnamese, and I hope to learn many more. I play basketball, soccer, table tennis, and almost any other sport, and I love to dance. I play video games, and I watch quite a few movies and tv shows. I love meeting people and spending time with others!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Underground hip-hop, jazz, classic rock, reggae, really anything good! I spend a lot of time seeking little-known artists, and I love to talk about music.
Movies: Shawshenk Redemption, Once Upon a Time in the West, Snatch, Memento, Office Space, . I love good thought provoking movies, clever comedies, and anything entertaining - silly or serious!
Books: Lots of fantasy novels - Joe Abercrombie, Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, and more. Vonnegut, Kerouac, Bringing Down the House, The Translator, and so much more. I love reading almost anything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've had so many amazing moments while traveling. One night that stands out, I was walking through the streets of Seoul at about 2:30am. I settled down on an empty street to play a bit of guitar and enjoy the night, and two guys happened to pass by as I began to play. Despite almost no language overlap, we ended up communicating through body language and exaggerated expressions. We spent the next couple of hours singing together and sharing a few beers in the street.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be extremely happy to teach the basics of software or web development! I'm less good at, but also willing to teach guitar or one of the other random habits that I enjoy.
