About Me

The ultimate brief summary of facts about me:

I graduated from university this summer, after studying economics & business for three years. These study fields, while providing me with a very decent foundation of useful general knowledge, aren't something I'd like to associate my future life with. Therefore I decided to wander around Europe for a while to find out more about the lives that people lead and the possibilities that lie further away from home. Recently, however, I decided that sometimes having your own bed to sleep in isn't such a horrible thing and settled down in Marseille for now.

Views from the rooftops, dark and dirty (=interesting and charismatic) bars and venues, streets of the city right after dawn are my preferred locations to explore the culture of any given city from. I find those to be the settings where you can see the city's true face in its least polished form. And that, of course, is always most interesting to get to know.

Some random trivia:

* I prefer sunrises over sunsets
* I have a collection of The Little Prince books in different languages
* I have no sense of balance whatsoever
* I'm on a quest to find the best falafel in Europe. Maybe you have some tips in your city?
* I have visited 11.3% of the countries in the world
* All my life I've notoriously failed at drawing classes. Right now I've settled for appreciating the art of others

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My experience with Couchsurfing started 5 years ago with creating an account and getting to know all the amazing opportunities this platform can offer for getting to know people I wouldn't have a chance to meet otherwise, learning a thing or two about the world and seeing places from a different perspective. I spent many nights imagining myself taking those chances, however, I wasn't quite ready for that to actually happen back then.

Now I am.

So for some time I tried to make the most out of travelling, the opportunities that Couchsurfing can offer and meeting all the amazing people out there. At the moment I'm in the position where I can give something back to the community and experience bits of other cultures brought by other travellers staying at my place.

Who knows, maybe our paths will cross at some point?

Music, Movies, and Books

With so many amazing creations of music, film and literature, picking a certain amount on favourites feels a bit unfair. Not only because I consider a number of those to be equally great, but also because many different pieces have been significant parts of certain different times.

However, no matter how many books have made me hold my breath (believe me, MANY), there are some that I find myself coming back to on various occasions. One of the is Franey and Zooey by J. D. Salinger. For years now, I've been irresistibly drawn to the way C. Bukowski used the language to express things. Right now I'm intending to revisit some best creations of H. Hesse. Well. If there's one thing I took away from writing this section, it's the realisation that I'd like to devote more time to reading these days.

Movies - another thing I'm extremely fond of. To name my favourite movies is even a bigger challenge to me than it was with books, so I'll just write down some names here that are responsible for at least part of the movies I enjoy very much: Christopher Nolan, David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch, Noah Baumbach. . . to be continued

I'm interested in most types of music. Going to a concert or a music-related performance is one of my time-tested shortcuts to have an awesome evening and something I will never ever say no to. So if you want a concert buddy for a night - look no further!
