About Me

Hi there!

I am a Brazilian journalist and feminist who decided to study the subject that I love the most - gender - and do what I love the most: travelling. I currently live in London and I'm doing a PhD in gender and the media at UWL. Besides that, I also work as a freelance writer.

I love philosophy, cinema, music, literature and I also enjoy a good conversation and productive debates. Spiritual, not religious, but inclined to Buddhism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I find people quite fascinating and I want to get to know them better, besides enriching travel experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
Samba, jazz, blues, soul, Rock, Indie

Movies
Almodóvar, Lynch, Kubric... I love Netflix series like Ru Paul's Drag Race, House of Cards, Sense 8 and The Killing. I also enjoy some good old series like Seinfeld and Law and Order SVU.

Books
So many, hard to say... Lispector, Fonseca, Drummond, but also Hemingway, Talese and series like Millenium and Game of Thrones (and yes I meant the books).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling through Bolivia's desert in a jeep for 4 days is one of my favorites.

But also: parachutes jumping, being fired for sticking to my principles, publishing magazine covers about racism and transgender, volunteering, participating in a documentary about catcalling in Brazilian streets, loving and being loved, carnival in Olinda...

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that the most amazing things in life is the day to day stuff, when you are very nice to someone without expecting the same treatment.

When you say something important to your friend, when you help someone, teach something, anything that makes smiles and learning - this is life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In general: knowledge about feminism, gender, sociology, media, social media, Brazilian culture, funny stories...

Most importantly: quality time.

"Our time in life is not very long. It's like a picnic in a Sunday afternoon. Just staring at the sun, seeing the things growing, breathing the fresh air is already a joy. But, if everything we do is discussing where to put the towel, who is going to sit in wich side, who is going to eat the chest or the thigh of the chicken, what a waste! Sooner or later, the weather becomes dark, the evening falls and the picnic is over and everything we did was discussing and implicating with each other. Think about everything is lost." (Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche)
