About Me

I won a Shakira dance off. That simple sentence is an abridgment of my being. I dance ridiculously. I laugh more than any person should, especially at myself. My passions seem to present themselves in movement - be it such dancing, chasing soccer balls, or nearly any other outdoor adventure. Movement is life. It is my overabundance of energy working it’s way out of every pore - spilling forth and forcing Newton’s laws upon me. And perhaps that best explains my journey - love and life always looking for an outlet. I'm always looking for a dance floor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A couple months ago I started looking into a possible trip to Peru (with Bolivia and Ecuador tugging at me as well) in the summer of 2015. Were I to undertake the trip, it would be my first major solo adventure. This thought left me with a profound dilemma. You see, I'm not the type of person that will walk into a bar and have fifty new friends within the hour - it's just not my style. And yet I believe getting to know another soul is one of the great joys in life. Trying to figure out how I would resolve this duality in foreign lands is when I stumbled across couchsurfing.

And I've been intrigued with the possibilities ever since.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I doubt the outside world would define this as amazing, it is something near and dear to my heart, so I feel I should write my paragraph now in case it doesn't make it into my biography. I created what has come to be known as Slide Tackle Sunday.

Community is an extremely important idea to me. And having the pleasure to work with some of the most brilliant people I have ever met inspired me to encourage that idea. When a coworker who had never set foot on a soccer field inquired about kicking a soccer ball around, I had my spark. While I've been playing pickup soccer for years, I wanted an atmosphere in which anyone would feel comfortable playing. So we set out one Sunday by ourselves - four on four. I thought it would be a one time event, but as soon as it was over, everyone was asking when the next one would be scheduled. More people would follow. And with that we founded our Slide Tackle Sunday (STS) community.

If you are in town and would like to join us, we would love to have you! Our games during the winter months are a little sporadic as we don't have a field with lights, but during the summer months we play nearly every Sunday. All I ask is that you be respectful of what we are about. We are open to all skill levels - even the absolute beginner. We are a community of encouragement and positivity. We go out there to have a few laughs, score a few goals, and enjoy the beautiful game.

Sometimes we make silly videos with our GoPros which can be found here:

So yea, amazing? As far as I'm concerned, they're the most amazing group of soccer players I've ever played with. :)
