About Me

For the past 34 years I have traveled the world with an excuse: to study, to work, to do both... Development has always been my are of work, but now with my partner Peter, we have embarked on a round the world trip for the sake of unstructured learning and living. For more about this journey we have a website: www.mundoenlamochila.com (it translates to The world in your Backpack, dot com)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We don't rely on lonely planet to figure out where to go and what to see, we prefer talking to people who live in the area and can share a deeper insight into local life. Also, we are doing a round the world trip with a very very limited budget...

Interests

I love creating things with my hands, not necessarily works of art, but all sorts of crafts: lamps, rugs, pendants, earrings, everything and anything that can be recycled/upcycled.
Also I am a political being. I love learning about the political and economical environment in all places I visit.
And now that I have more time, I'm rekindling my affair with reading and writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm still an alternative rock fan, with some indie slipped into it. In Spanish, cumbia is starting to warm my heart.
Netflix really got me hooked on series: House of Cards, Sons of Anarchy, the Walking Dead...
But at my core I'm a huge fan of mystery solving novels, Sherlock style.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After getting my masters degree, I decided to take off two months to learn how to surf in Costa Rica and Nicaragua with a friend... those two months got extended to half a year and my friend got a job offer on the day 2 of the trip. Traveling by myself on chicken buses through Central America was a peaceful and liberating experience. My sisters call it my "eat pray love" season.

Teach, Learn, Share

A bit of everything... handicrafts, political discussions, and my partner's amazing cooking skills.
I'm not healthy living and yoga, not at all a guru, so I like sharing and learning about these issues...
