Hi, there I’m Gabi from Romania 🇷🇴
I’ve been traveling the world for the past few years with just my backpack (and way too many stories to fit inside it). So far, I’ve explored more than 55 countries—and I’m still going strong!

I’m a very friendly, open-minded soul who always smiles, who loves to share experiences, and connect with people from everywhere. Until now, I didn’t really use Couchsurfing much because I was volunteering in almost every country I visited… but now I’ve decided it’s time to also meet amazing new people through this platform.

Whenever I arrive in a new country, I always try to spend time with locals—I believe that’s the real way to get to know a culture. I’d rather drink tea in someone’s kitchen, learn grandma’s secret recipe, or join a random family celebration than tick off another tourist sight.

One of my favorite quotes is: “Strangers are just friends waiting to happen.” :)
So here I am, with a big smile, good energy, funny travel stories, and probably some Romanian chocolate hidden in my backpack (yes, I never travel without snacks).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is a doorway into real life in every country I visit. I love the idea of sitting at a local’s table, hearing stories, sharing laughs, and experiencing those little everyday details.

At the same time, I completely understand if you’re busy and don’t have time to hang out—I’ll be grateful just to share a roof and a smile. Anything more is just a beautiful bonus.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* Visit Dalai Lama
* Crossed a whole mountain in Laos by floating on an underground river through a cave—with my motorbike on the boat beside me
* Lived with a tribe deep in the Sumatran jungle, far from any sign of civilization.
* Studied Ayurvedic Medicine and Nutrition in India
* Spent 11 days in the Himalayas rafting and kayaking
* Teaching English in a Budhist Monastery in Nepal
