À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Loving all the humans

ABOUT ME

Passionate and driven, yet open minded and relaxed. Born in Michigan, I've spent a lot of time in Washington, Connecticut, California, Quebec, Colorado, and Indiana. Social, enginuitive, resourceful, respectful, mindful, compassionate, vulnerable, sincere, happy, giving, curious, meek, willful, persistent, yet sometimes I like to sleep in ;-)

...and on a bad day: grumpy, arrogant, and righteous (don't worry, I reserve my crabbiness for those I love most)

PHILOSOPHY

I'm committed to all life flourishing together through people experiencing their life as a calling.

Pursue your calling, not merely a career. Beliefs and values aren't left at the door of your workplace. I work to build organizations where whole people show up and maximize their contribution in the world.

Professionally I help design and coach executives through crafting cultural transformations within their organization. In my volunteer time, I mentor social entrepreneurs from around the globe. You can find various things I've written and more about me online, including:

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I'm reminiscent about what the community used to be and every once in a while we still host. The website has changed a lot in the last couple decades and generally the changes are awful. You can see my profile is old school and includes the old prompts that used to be standard for each profile. For instance, you're no longer asked to state a mission or philosophy, but rather there's now merely a field that says "about me". Couchsurfing formerly invited people to create a community of mission driven deep thinkers. Now it has devolved into "places to crash". Frankly, if you haven't articulated your current mission in your profile or some iteration of your life's purpose, please don't request to stay with us.

Moreover, the new web design doesn't, by design, have you read about the space you're asking to stay in before you send your request. You must click "read more" to learn about what conditions you'll be landing in. Do it. Click "read more" or don't bother sending us a request. We are not interested in stumbling into any mismatch of expectations. And, if you're thinking you don't have any expectations, first, trust me you do, and second, we do.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted since 2005 at our homes in Indiana, Connecticut, and Washington. We moved to Des Moines, WA as of Spring 2016. We're excited to continue hosting. We'd like to share and are also frequently traveling ourselves. My wife and I love to learn and often feel isolated from the very place which we intend to experience whenever we stay in hotels. Through our participation in the couchsurfing community, we're able to make our traveling experiences more genuine and do the same for anyone visiting our town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm fortunate to have been taken in by many strangers during my travels, usually previously through introductions, but not always. Supporting this experience through an online community is Awesome!

We've had many surfers and just keep meeting amazing people from all over the world. We love it!
