About Me

Hello hello there!

I'm Gabriel, but you can call me Gabe or the Pineapple Guy🍍

I'm easy-going, fun, and maybe a bit "loco" - but in a good way! I'm originally from (French) Canada, but I've been around a lot and lately, I've been living in the Netherlands for the last 5 years. I'm in this bit of a weird phase where I am currently "homeless" but only as a transition!

Over the last two years, I had my tech startup in the field of Emergency Services working with the dutch Government... but things didn't go as planned and I, unfortunately, had to stop. It is what it is! Fortunately enough though, I found a job which I will be starting in mid-July. In the meanwhile, I am in this transition where I am finding my way in life and starting from fresh again.

I could have stayed in the Netherlands waiting for my job to start but instead, I sold/gave/thrown out basically all of my possessions to be free and really start my life from new. All I have left is my little backpacking bag (and a small box in storage)! And wow can I tell you it's an amazing feeling. I gave myself a little more than a month to clear my mind, travel, and live life, and chose Portugal to do so because, common, Portugal! It's so freaking awesome here :D

On a more personal note, I am polyamorous and consider it to be a big part of who I am! (aka I'm the loving and hugging type, but don't worry I'm also very respectful). I could go on and on to tell more about myself but I prefer when people just ask. Always feel free to ask anything, I am quite open with everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What I love the most about living is how everyone in this world is unique, and how we all have something to share. Every encounter is a new adventure and a chance to grow as a person. I love CouchSurfing because it perfectly encompasses this concept.

I'm on CouchSurfing because I want to discover the stories of others out there, go out of my comfort zone, and learn to be a better self while sharing part of myself with others.

Interests

The best job I've ever had, without any doubt, was bartending. I'm a big mixology fan (art of making cocktails), and I am always willing to share with you my bits of knowledge and experience to teach you how to make a perfect mojito or any drink you might desire.

Beside, surfing is my favorite sport! Surfing really resonates with me because it a sport which closely connects to nature. It requires understanding of the sea, but also respect and appreciation. Waves are so, so powerful. So to be able to surf them and be one with water is such a liberating, happy feeling.

I've lived on a boat for 10 months and sailed around the world. I've seen some sh*t.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn more about surfing! It's a technical sport with such deep techniques and knowledge. I'm still a beginner but would love to improve!

Food and drinks are a good skill I'm always willing to share! Good life comes with good food and drinks :)
