About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To break free.

ABOUT ME

I'm italian and i'm born in 1982 and lived in Albisola Superiore, a small sea city with lot of beaches and cool summer holidays destination. I love sea.

I attended engineering courses in the near University of Genova and until recently i lived in Genova to finish off my Phd studies in Software Engineering.

I'm a classical computer geek. I like videogames, science fiction, fantasy worlds, role playing and board games. I used to read a lot. I love traveling but i didn't really traveled much up to now for lack of money and time. Students don't have much funds and don't have much time if they take studies seriously.
This is especially because i don't like much to do short trips: it's more expensive and i find it doesn't give enough in return.

I like nature. As a kid i've been used to see nature contact as fairly normal (had a big garden with cats, dogs, chickens, plenty of hills and sea nearby) but generally boring, because i preferred mind activities. When i moved to city to follow my studies i found out it wasn't always granted. Thus i (re)discovered the beauty of the mountains.

Just recently i finished my Phd studies and following my decision to leave academia to try to work on my own as freelance/startupper (which i will do after this sabbatical) i choose to do a long indie travel in Europe and Asia before committing to my new professional project.

PHILOSOPHY

I take things without hurry, there's no reason to stress.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not much experience yet. I only surfed in Freiburg on a friend couch for a few days, so i don't have much to share, yet.

Interests

As a geek i find interesting any intellectual challenge, often computer related, and reading fiction, mostly fantasy and sci-fi.
Socially i like to hang out with friends and i regularly play pen & paper role games.
I'm not really a sport person but i sometimes do jogging to stay fit, i like trekking and swimming. I did some canyoning and climbing but i'm not naturally inclined to that kind of activities so, while i found it a lot of fun, i'm terrible at it.
I would like to learn snowboarding (i used to sky in the past but i can't anymore due to an injury).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like everything related sci-fi and fantasy.
I don't like horror movies.

I used to read a lot in the past so i will keep tight:
I read it last: Invisible Monsters (Chuck Palahniuk)
I read it twice: Lord of the Rings (Tolkien)
I read it A LOT: Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick.

About music i'm no expert but i mostly listen to rock and metal. My favored group are the Queen. In the rock scene i also listen U2, among italian authors i liked very much Fabrizio De Andrè and i'm also used to listen metal bands, especially epic metal (Blind Guardian) and synphonic metal (Rhapsody).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My sister lives in New York so i had the chance to visit it a few times and stay there a few months total. I was there during the 2003 blackout: at the time i was living in Brooklyn and was visiting the Queens so i walked a long way, along with a huge crowd, in a New York only ligthened by pocket torchs. Not something you can see every day.

Countries I’ve Visited

Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, United States
