Overview
About Me
I like reading, great food, train journeys, offshore sailing, gibbons, jam sessions, star-gazing & spring water.
If people are the world's cogs, then laughter is the oil.
I'm down-to-earth and highly inquisitive, and always up for meeting new people, discovering new experiences and learning new skills.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm crewing on yachts at the moment and sometimes need a place to crash in between voyages. I also love meeting people and hearing about their life, or sometimes just sitting in silence to appreciate something beautiful.
Music, Movies, and Books
Musically, my tastes are pretty eclectic: afrobeat, Malian music, Snarky Puppy, Electro Deluxe, Genesis, Anoushka Shankar, folk music, all classical music (especially Shostakovich), Bonobo, Minilogue, the list goes on...
Movies: Shawshank Redemption possibly topping the list, and then foreign language films and the works of Wes Anderson
Books: I'll read anything, provided it's not awful.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailed double-handed across the Atlantic in a 10m wooden boat!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach sailing theory, anything about music, and little nuggets of random information that I've learnt in odd places (did you know that the Ancient Greeks claimed the sky was bronze as they had no word for blue?)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Food, laughter and happiness. (And WiFi!)
