Overview
About Me
I'm a Canadian writer seeking a cultural immersion experience in Brazil. I have been learning Brazilian Portuguese this year and landed in Brazil on Dec. 17, with the intention of staying 5 months. I am passionate about learning languages and meeting local people. I'm 60, but feel like 25. I'll hike up any hill and dive into any body of water. I also enjoy reading and music, especially jazz. I have a husband and two grown children, who have given me their blessing to undertake this solo trip.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would love to experience and participate in everyday Brazilian life. If I join a family, I would be happy to help children or adults with English. I would also welcome the opportunity to participate in Brazilian festivities and family gatherings. At the same time, I am very independent, so my host family would not have to worry about "taking care" of me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love jazz, especially more contemporary jazz. Dave Weckl and Aziza Mustafa Zadeh are big favorites.
My favorite movies tend to be family dramas. The Kids Are Alright and The Descendants come to mind.
Ditto for books. I'm a big fan of Zoe Heller and Anne Tyler.
