About Me

I'm currently studying urban policies in Saint-Etienne, France. I'm born and raised in Paris but after my exchange in Copenhagen, where I stayed one year, I realized I didn't want to come back there. It was a good time to see other cities and live far from what I used to know!
I lived in Bordeaux and then I moved to Saint-Etienne - I love this city, its crazy architecture and its mountains (apparently there are hills...).

I can host in Paris, but I'm rarely here. I cannot really host in Saint-Etienne because my appartement is small and I have no sleeping couch...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I planned to visit the US East Coast, I realized it was the perfect occasion to try a new way to travel. I heard a lot about it from my foreign friends and it always ended up well.
As I will be by myself it can be a way to meet local people, to share their knowledge of their city and to see a "real" condo (I'm curious with condos yes).

As a student it is a also less expensive and it enables me to enjoy a bit more my travel without stressing about everything. Moreover I realized the importance of this kind of solidarity and this kind of trades while in Saint-Etienne, where we can find a lot of associative bars, barter networks, local initiatives...

Interests

So I won't lie, I'm a bit obsessed by bikes and even though I'm not a great cyclist I love looking at bike in the street, at city races and messengers... Sometimes in the street I will stop walking to stare at a nice bike. Or a dog. I love dogs as well and it can be annoying sometimes to see me stop talking/walking to admire a doggo.
I love weightlifting as well especially women competitions!

Music, Movies, and Books

I cannot really choose one song, not because I'm a huge fan of music but the opposite - according to my high school german teacher I have a bad musical ear... Mostly I listen "electro" music and rock/rock'n'roll (going through Peaky Blinders' soundtrack)

I watch a lot of TV show, so I won't start a list...

My favorite books are from Joan Didion and John Fante (a guy who inspired Bukowski) I love reading fiction or anything that can be read as fiction. Recently I've loved Ghana Must Go and I try to start In Cold Blood (but it's too hot to focus)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We backpacked in Chile and Peru during one month with two friends at 20. We booked the ticket but weren't sure where to go and what to do once there.

Maybe I can add that I moved three times in unknown cities where I didn't know anybody! Quite an adventure actually.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would like to share my hosts' own sight of their city and discover what they do, where they go and what they feel there. I really like to visit cities as if I were a local. I know I'm not, but I think my hosts could help me achieve this feeling of "wellbeing" and almost of "belonging" - even for few days. As a student of urban policy I think that citizens' eyes can tell a lot about their city.

As I myself come from a touristic city I learnt that the real heart of a city is rarely its main monuments or main squares.

I could share my own experience, my daily adventures and my stories (about the city or my other travels or anything else) or simply teach few words of french and cook for them!
