About Me

Hey there, I'm Gabrielle from New York! I moved to Amsterdam about 3 years ago and have since been taking advantage of all of the amazing places I can visit on this European continent. I work in hospitality which satisfies my passion for food and wine culture. In addition to this I am always looking for my next adventure in countries that share this passion, namely Italy and France at the moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing because this summer I want to get to know more about Italy while traveling on a tight budget. I like to be social and I'm always keen on communicating with locals to sink in and have a better understanding of the real culture, rather than the more surface level touristy experience. This is something I've heard couchsurfing can provide better. I like to exchange cultural values of one another, food traditions and ways of living. Casper, my partner, is the same and we thought couchsurfing together would be safe and fun way for us to explore deeper on our trip to Italy.

Interests

For me, it's always going to be about food :) I grew up gardening, farming and taking care of animals in New York and like to seek out these experiences while traveling. Taking long walks through the nature, getting a tour of a vineyard and preparing a meal with company is my idea of a perfect day. My travel/life companion Casper is obsessed (addicted?!) to historical buildings, ruins, Roman structures etc. We are also avid art-goers and creatives ourselves.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably move from the US to Europe! It wasn't easy and I sacrifice a lot from not seeing my family that I love for long periods of time. But I'm so glad I made this choice and I'm constantly being inspired and excited by the cultures I am living in. The more I can explore the more I can share with those I love and that makes it worth it!

Teach, Learn, Share

Casper knows almost every detail about the history of Amsterdam. He grew up here and is still hungry for more history so if you're interested in that, block out a few hours of your time! I teach kombucha workshops and have a lot of interest in creative foodie things. We both know a lot about coffee as well.

I am always looking for an opportunity to learn more about wine!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would like to share photos and drawings of our experience with our hosts. We both enjoy photography, I am a graphic designer and Casper is an artist. Whenever we travel together we like to give back to our hosts in that way. It's something special they can always keep and share with future guests.
