Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live on as many coasts as possible
To see every marine mammal species
ABOUT ME
What an awkward section... I am a marine biologist who listens to whales for a living. I've had the chance to work and explore quite a few places but there is always more to see! I constantly discover how rubbish I am at travelling, but it never seems to stop me! I love listening to other people's stories and experiences and learning from them and growing green with envy :P I'm always ready for a night out and love to see the world through a local's eye - but it's difficult for me to put down my camera (although I am no photographer!).
PHILOSOPHY
Never regret anything: Every mistake is a teachable moment.
Do what you are passionate about: It's an amazing feeling to wake up every morning excited about what you do.
Be honest with your feelings: games are for children.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I primarily am looking for hosts during my travels, which are sporadic and tied to my work. Hopefully once I'm settled independently I can start hosting and paying my dues back :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only surfed a few times, mostly positive experiences, all teachable moments. I look forward to meeting new people and adding to my experiences!
Interests
Marine biology - My work is my life and I do it because I am genuinely interested and love it. Don't start me on the subject unless you don't want me to stop!
Dance - I somehow manage to give all my life over to dance, even after giving it all to work. I am a swing dancer by passion, although if there is a partner involved I am pretty good at it. I want to get back into classical dancing (ballet, jazz, tap etc) and back into performing (I was on stage starting at about 5), but one needs to be around for longer than a few months to really participate in such productions.
I am usually an active part of whatever dance scene I am with at the time, teaching, DJing, setting up workshops or events and trying to keep scenes fresh and motivated. It's a lot of work but a true labour of love!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music
- Brandi Carlile, Thirsty Merc, Missy Higgins, Christina Perri, Sam Smith, George Ezra and Ellie Goulding come to mind first. I'm obsessed with musicals. And great remixes that you can really dance to. I love the blues, and swing hits from the 20-40s. I'm also a fan of a lot of Top 40 music. Eclectic.
Movies
- Lots of everything. I can quote most of Disney. If you're going to be based on a book you better keep close to the story. One I can watch on repeat is Pride and Prejudice.
Books
- My beyond all favourite is A Ring of Endless Light by Madeline L'Engle. My favourite is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I think Mark Twain is the greatest American writer of the century. I love action thrillers with a bit of a twist. Most classics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-- The view from the top of El Yunque, Puerto Rico.
-- Praying at the Western Wall
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - A male African Elephant can stand in the mouth of a blue whale.
Learn - languages, tricks of the trade, how real people do their cities/countries.
Share - You do you as only you can do.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Friendly company that doesn't need too much sitting. I am great getting on independently but love recommendations or getting shown all the right places in the city. I'm not the best traveled but I've got experience living in a variety of countries.
Countries I’ve Visited
