About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finally travel overseas!

ABOUT ME

I am passionate about sustainable living in Melbourne, where I live in the inner-city. I am just about to complete a Masters of Urban Horticulture program at the University of Melbourne. I so want more garden space and dancing in my life! Any hoopers out there? I'd love to meet you :)

PHILOSOPHY

No regrets! You can't take possessions with you when you depart this life, so materialism definitely doesn't interest me. I am more into 'experiences', seeing and doing things that add colour to life. I am definitely a "glass half full" type of person as I prefer to look at the positive in a situation. Whilst I wouldn't really call myself spiritual, I think karma somehow catches up with us. Treat people the way you would like to be treated :)

"If you don't like where you are, then change it. You are not a tree!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I originally got into couchsurfing as I wanted to provide young female travellers with safe accommodation while they explore the world. And as a mum, I also wanted to be able to travel safely too, whilst meeting interesting people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Life has been quite busy the last couple of years. I have been finishing my study whilst also working in landscape design and horticulture. So it has been a couple of years since I hosted any couchsurfers. But I have previously hosted quite a few couchsurfers (see my references). However, I have never actually been hosted myself! I hope that will change this year as we head to France and Italy for 2 months.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately I have been listening to a lot of French music as my partner is from France. I have very eclectic music tastes. Depending on my mood, I like to listen to anything from the John Butler Trio to heavy metal to psytrance. Any music I can hoop or dance to is greatly appreciated.

My favourite book? Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Why? Well meet me and I will let you know! :)

My favourite movies? Well not horror is all I can say! The Castle is definitely high on the list. It is very Australian (or "Orstrayn" as we say in our accent!) so maybe you haven't heard of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having a mother and baby whale swim right under the catamaran we were sailing on in Albany, Western Australia in September 2012. Awesome! Almost close enough to touch, but I wouldn't of course :)

My appreciation for you opening up your home to me. I am happy to help around the house. We would even cook up a meal for you.
