We're a Belgian couple aged 29, accompanied by our friendly 10-year-old collie, Yorhki (or Kiki).

Maïlis works in film production, and Gabriel, who trained as a roofer and rope access technician, is now a safety trainer on work sites at height and in confined spaces. We came to live in Montreal for work in July 2022, but we left Montreal to cross the country in mid-April 2024! Our passions? Hiking, climbing, music, cinema and much more.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Gabriel did few couch surfing in Canada during a one year trip when he was 19. It's where he discovered the concept and I had such great time and meetings. After that, we were both hosts on several occasions in our shared apartment in Brussels.

Intereses

We're both passionate about travel and outdoor sports, but we also love discovering cities and their cultures. The most important thing for us is to meet people, and understand how cultures work elsewhere.

Music :
We listen to quite a bit of everything (rock, hip-hop, soul, indie folk, reggae, etc.).
Our very favorite artists would be : John Mayer and Mumford and sons.

Films :
We watch as many auteur films for Maïlis's work, as we do crappy Netflix movies to relax.
Our very favorite film would be : The Lord of the Ring (without any hesitation).

Books :
We're not big readers, but Maïlis has a huge passion for mountain books.
Her very favorite book : The eight mountains (Paolo Cognetti).

Gabriel :
Worked five weeks with dogs sledding in Yukon.
Walked two weeks in the desert when I was 12 years old.

Maïlis :
Spent two weeks in the Kenyan savannah with her father when she was 12.

Both :
Trekked to the middle of nowhere in the Georgian Caucasus.
Left their lives in Belgium for a job offer in Montreal.

Learn :
We would like to discover the true face of cities by visiting them. Daily life, culture, music, cafés...

Teach :
We speak French. Gabriel played the drums, and Maïlis the piano. Gabriel cooks very well, and can do more or less everything with his hands. Maïlis is a photographer, and loves talking about documentaries.
