Because I think it's a great way to meet locals and I hate the "hotel/touristic" way of travelling. The other way around would be: Because it's a great way to meet foreign people that are not typical tourists.

I decided to take a job in Costa Rica with no contract, no security or friends there, and I knew I'd go the minute they offered it. I lived there for 5 months.

I can teach you Spanish or English. Yoga. Cumbia dancing? I can play the Aladdin song on the piano and I can say several phrases in Latin :o
