Overview
About Me
I come from South Africa and I am currently enrolled at Stellenbosch University, majoring in Psychology and languages!
My biggest love would be my three dogs and a good cup of tea. I like to keep busy but, I will always make time to discover new music and good authors. And my favorite form of procrastination is watching Ted Talks.
In my free time I paint or draw and my guilty pleasures include (but are not limited to) binge-watching Shameless and The Office!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After graduating in November 2018, we will have quite a bit of time on our hands during our break and consequently decided to buy a plane ticket to Europe! Now, my two best friends and I are making our way to the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Czech Republic.
We have our first degree in the bag and now it's time to broaden our horizons and see what the rest of the world has to offer! The goal is to see as many places and to meet as many people as possible!
Hopefully, we will make a few friends along the way and get to know a few people who we can invite back to come visit South Africa!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2011, we went out to Mozambique, on the coast of Southern Africa to explore the villages and their culture. During this trip we went snorkeling one afternoon, whereupon we came down on a sand shark, caught up and stuck in nets. This was observable from the clear waters- the shark was only about 5 m from the top of the surface of the water . This amazing see creature was almost 10m wide and flapping its fins in distress. It was painful to see this animal stuck like that, but it was an incredible experience seeing this massive animal so closeby. It was almost elegant in the way it handled its distress!
Our guide was extremely upset about the trapped shark and she immediately cut our tour short and with a lot of underwater effort, we managed to cut the ropes of the nets and set this graceful animal free.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn whatever you have to offer. Whether its your grandmas home made chocolate cake or basic communication of your mother tongue language- I am so excited to get to know new people and learn from their perspectives and experiences!
The first thing that I can teach you is how to make potjiekos, braaibroedjies and malvapudding (a few favorites in South African Cuisine). From there on, I can give you insight into the typical south African lifestyle and norms from my upbringing and as best as I can, I can tell you about our country and what it has to offer!
