About Me

I am traveling in Mediterranean Europe for 3 months, beginning in January 2016. Previously, I was working on an educational organic farm on the California coast, about one hour away from San Francisco, where I grew up. I grew vegetables and fruits, raised animals and taught high schoolers who visited the farm about organic farming and food justice. While the soil rests during the winter, I am planning to travel and explore new places and eat delicious food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first couchsurfed 5 years ago when I was backpacking through China for four months. It was such a great way to experience new places, whether I was just meeting up for someone over coffee or being hosted. It makes such a big difference to be able to meet someone who lives or is from the place that I am visiting and a great way to meet new people while on the move. I love the trustworthy nature of couchsurfing and I hope to carry on the hospitality to the couchsurfing community that I have received over the years.

Interests

I am most passionate about food: growing, cooking, eating, sharing, talking about, etc. I love to try new foods, and also make food to share with others. I am very curious about food cultures and the relationship between food and the environment. I took a 3 month pastry course at a culinary school and always want to practice and learn new recipes so I can make something sweet for you!

I also enjoy being outside (mountains, ocean), living sustainably, exploring new places, partying and dancing, biking, swimming, watching television and movies, learning about different cultures, hanging out with friends, listening to music, cheese, puppies, farming, sunshine, learning new things, laughing, soccer
