ABOUT ME

Like i said, i mostly day dream. Most of my travel around the country - madhya pradesh, andhra pradesh, kashmir, nagaland, assam,meghalaya, manipur, gujarat - has come about as a by product of my profession. Though sometimes the profession's a pain - i'd rather travel just for the love of the journey.

The only place i've been to, outside india, is nepal, where i spent 5 days in pokhra and kathmandu with an invading army of 3000 konkanis.I hope, in this life only, to go to turkey, vietnam, cambodia, laos, egypt, poland and all of south america...and of course, pakistan.

I belong to the sad species that never learnt how to cycle - so that automatically rules out all those exciting cross country bicycle and motorbike trips - but i still hope to make it round the world by train(which i love), on foot(which i love again), by air(if absolutely necessary), or by bus(*puke*)...i like travelling the old fashioned way - camping in a place for a few days,exploring the place, getting to know the people. Though i love travelling alone, or with just one person, a journey i'm hoping to make time for soon, is the one the Warkaris make every year, to the shrine at pandharpur. Not for religious reasons, but for the pure joy of it.

While we're on the subject of dream journeys, the silk route wouldn't be bad either:-/

By the way, I'm a native speaker of Konkani, which, though the state language of that tourist paradise, Goa, is not listed on CS..so much for getting to know the locals:)...anyway, like a true indian, i chose the next best option - english - for my profile.

see above...i've hosted a couple of couch surfers and met a handful of them - all extremely interesting people. hope to do more hosting in the months to come
