Hey, this is Gaelle, I'm a French 33-yo journalist, visiting the USA soon! It's my second time on Couchsurfing!!

I've been living in the UK for the past 8 years, first in Liverpool where I learnt all about the Beatles songs, now in London. Before that, I studied journalism and English in Lyon, France for 6 years. And before that, I also lived in Australia and Canada many moons ago!

I very much enjoy meeting new people and discovering new places, like everyone around here I imagine.

In Liverpool, I've worked as a video journalist covering culture in the city, theatre, arts, food and drinks; today I work in social media + video for a national radio station.

So like a proper French, I love my politics and chatting about history - but food is really what gets me going!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

This is my second time on Couchsurfing as I'll be travelling through the USA in a couple of weeks with my boyfriend. I usually go for hostels/hotels but I had such an amazing time couchsurfing the East Coast in 2018 that I’d love to renew the experience!

And to be totally honest, it’s also been one of the best trips of my life. I got to meet locals from Rochester, NY all the way to New Orleans, share stories and laugh and create life memories!

At the time, I travelled with two male friends, by car, from Toronto to Louisiana (one of them is actually a travel-addict and has his own profile on Couchsurfing: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/loulouzepou !)

This time, I’ll be with my boyfriend Pierrick, who is French too. We’ve been together for over 4 years and live together too so we're looking at discovering as many quirky and unusual places as possible while making friends!

We’ll then be going back to London where we’re hoping to give back and welcome guests!

I've been listening to lots of local musicians in Liverpool, as this place if full of gigs every night everywhere. I like all sorts of genres, from rock to pop, opera to electronic, with a slight preference for jazz.
At the moment, I'm very much into french electro and folk.

On movies, I’m very much a kid from the 90s, but I also love anything thriller, movies from Alfred Hitchcock to Spielberg to Danny Boyle. Of course, I’ve watched The Office (US) a billion times, I love Black Mirror, House of Cards, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Big Little Lies, Mad Men or other Peaky Blinders (which was filmed in Liverpool!)

My bookshelves are full of contemporary non-fictions and women literature (from female writers to feminists).

Shining light on local communities and charities who were struggling to get access to media and got to showcase their work.

Also, a US roadtrip for 3 weeks … all through Couchsurfing!

I guess I'm quite good at languages, so I'd be happy to share my knowledge of French, English and Italian! I'm also very much into cooking, so anything related and I'll teach, learn and share.

As I work in filming and editing TV programs, I'm happy to teach you and share the basics of camera operating and software editing! And learn from you too!
