ABOUT ME

Bonjour! Okay I guess I should describe myself in English. Describing yourself in a few words, that's a hard request... I'd say : colours, smile, motivation, enthousiasm, curiosity, nature, animals, music, writing, reading, family, friends, adventure. I'm right now in a very exciting moment of my life, where all my dreams are becoming true, and thousands of opportunities appear so that I have to choose. This is my biggest issue for now, trying to say no, as I obviously can't do everything, but while every project seems even better than the first one. But this is far from preventing me to enjoy every moment. I love being a student, and my last 3 years have been the most wonderful of my life. I intend to carry on like this. I'm always involved in stunning stories, always have something to tell, and I love laughing both at myself and at others (as soon as I notice this is something acceptable on the other side). I guess this is the French humour style... As for me, happiness is tightly linked to adventure, I just have one motto : "Why not ? Let's do it!"

PHILOSOPHY

"WHY NOT ?"This is a great one, as it incites me not to say no. And not saying no brings you in places and in situations you would never have dreamed of...Some sentences I like to remember of:"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars", Oscar Wild."We need to keep some smiles to laugh at unhappy days"."A dream of doughnut, it's a doughnut. But a dream of travel, it's already traveling", Marek Halter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just getting to know couch surfing. I love it and intend to keep knowing it better, but for now, as I'm studying for a year in Canada, I'm basically enjoying visiting new towns and cities and being hosted by people who like welcoming and are ready to share what they have and to accept what I am also ready to share.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had one experience in Couch surfing. I've been host in Toronto for three nights in a very nice appartment in a huge building. A single 30-year-old man hosted us, he was really nice but the communication was not always really easy. We were three French at his' and I found that it was difficult to know how to behave, to be more distant or more present. We wanted to do our best, but didn't really know what our host wanted. Based on this experience, I know I will do my best to communicate better with my next host about how s/he wants me to behave, and I'll be a bit more exigeant regarding hygienic matters (as my former host lacked "a bit" of sense of cleaning). I loved the idea of meeting someone in a new town and the solidarity between couch surfers keeps amazing me !

Interests

Wow, so many things.. Everything linked to nature and animals. Hiking, horse-riding, walking, looking for wild animals or chilling with any pet around me.Music, as I play the violin (I've been playing for 14 years), the piano and guitar (at an amator level). I love listening to music too, whichever the type.Drama, I've been practising this activity for 6 years and I enjoy it a lot.Silent activities like reading, writing (I write poems and stories), watching a movie alone or with friends. Of course going out, dancing, drinking (not in the US obviously as I'm underage over there) and playing cards..Doing crazy stuff, challenging myself. I'm often involved in awkward situations and I love it. That way I always have many stories to tell people and as I love chatting too, it's great! Of course, the last but not least, I love traveling !! I've discovered travels on my own or with friends last year and I can't wait to do it more, I'm very curious of people, cultures, landscapes and cities. It was a dream and now it has become true, so I can only say YES !!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to every kind of music, except for rap.I looove reading, so I like many of them. I like Dostoïevsky, Jane Austen... Many French writers. I like romantic books, true stories, psychological novels and adventure ones. It's pretty much the same for movies. Some of my favourite are Inception, the concert, the notebook, Black Swan, love actually, dirty dancing, the duchess, pride and prejudice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the Niagara Falls which were more than stunning, and I crossed the whole Canada by train... the landscapes I saw and the tranquility of the forests and lakes amazed me more than I have ever been before. At the beginning of the year, in Victoria (Canada), 40 killer whales surrounded our touristic zodiac and we had to leave in emergency. The images of the whales jumping and having fun around us (they did not seem agressive) are still very clear in my mind...Once, I spend a day in Malaisia, Kuala Lumpur, and I lost myself in the market of the city. The smell, the noise and the general atmosphere were hypnotizing. There, in the middle of the crowd, I saw a monkey stealing a little girl's ice cream. I remember telling myself that this could be the perfect scene of a movie. Once here in Uvic, I got lost in the forest (first day) while running. At some point I saw a deer and decided to follow it... and I found my way back. I still wonder if it really helped me or if the hazard is just incredibly malicious!

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I can teach tolerance and open-mindness, as these are good qualities of mine. Also, I could teach how to relax and just act the way you want without really caring for what others will think of it, as long as it doesn't bother them. I would love to give people the spirit of adventure ! :)In return, I really need to learn to anticipate and organize my trips and my life. I may live a bit too much in the present day and often forget that it can have unexpected and not welcome consequences. I have so many things to learn from others and their experiences, but I'm certainly not aware enough of all of them. That's why I prefer waiting to meet them and see what they can share with me, instead of listing what I wanna be taught.
