About Me

CURRENT MISSION

get back on track

ABOUT ME

1st update since joining - enjoying the journey. the place in Provence went to the long finger, the book is 3/4 way there and the current focus / mission is the eco build / farm project using recycled materials and sustainable energy sources. Its happening in Czech, near Prague and it may also happen in Cork. so my couchsurfing is to be lightning raids to weekend destinations for a change of energy.... open to all suggestions - Venice and Sofia were great

I work between Prague (Czech) and Cork (Ireland)I have worked for myself for the last 15 years. I like people, their stories and what motivates them. People watching is my favourite passive sport.

I'm friendly, open minded, outgoing, easy character enjoying my journey more than the relevant destinations.

I like to spread good vibes and positives so wish you all well and hope you have multiple smiley experiences after reading this.

PHILOSOPHY

mmm every one can teach us something
everyone has something to offer
everyone has someone else inside

consumerism the way it is today is working beyond your resources and is ultimately not sustainable

If I don't spend more than I need - I don't need to go to work

measure twice - cut once

The other mans grass is only greener because you don't do enough to look after your own grass

Is the glass half full or half empty? - actulay its 100% full - half full with the things we see (and can measure, count or value) and half with the things we can't, but still need - air/oxygen - what we need to breath - keep it clean look after your planet.

We are running out of space - on the planet and in our minds - reduce the stress you expose yourself too

Achieve more by doing less - if you don't know what I mean read the seven spiritual laws of success by Deepak Chopra. (I think its rule 3??)

If there were no material things - what would be important for you? your answer is the essence of your life, and all things, all focus and all direction should work towards fulfilling the answer you come up with.

comfortable survival can be achieved with a three day working week

the meaning of life.... to have a life with meaning- to make a difference (positively) to the lives you touch

I cannot change the world, I can only change my world
you cannot change the world, but you can change your world - lets all try to synchronise, then its job done

Being able to adapt to change reduces conflict, externally,
internally
mentally,
spirtually,
psychically

using the three foot rule is your chance to change your part of the world

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can offer space in Cork or Prague when I'm there one week a month (Cork), 3 weeks a month (Prague) though its basic your welcome.I don't have much space and the "couch may end up being a patch of carpet in Prague as I share an apartment, but happy to meet people and give them a visitors view of either place and culture.

I'm currently looking for a nice campsite

Music, Movies, and Books

mmm very difficult to say just a few, I have about 400 books (well I do have a 50 yr old body - though the mind is surely younger)

movies have become more interesting since working in a vfx studio in Prague and spending time on a film set in Prague, Budapest, and Cork.

Self help books are great I enjoyed who moved my cheese, the 7 spiritual laws, awareness, Zen guitar, the dance between joy and pain.... many more.

Music to suit my ever changing mood, all kinds except the heaviest metal and the monotonic synth

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

mm top of the list my two children (well not all down to me)

Survivng a serious car crash Nov 17th (I think it was 1995) - yes it was the catalyst for a life changing experience. (the car died)

Appreciating the simple things in life (sorry but this IS AMAZING sometimes)

Survived a twenty foot drop off the top of a wave in a gale force 8 storm in a 36' yacht off the west coast of Cork. May not sound much but I seriously thought it was over.

Visiting the blind cafe in Prague (svetluska.cz I think) the closest I can imagine to what it must be like to be blind, excellent experience for appreciating the simple things we take for granted.

Was on a US national tv news summary program in 1983 in three news clips on two coasts in one show eight items in the show me and my buddy Mike were in three of the visual clips in San Francisco getting of a bus after traveling non-stop from Niagara Falls (journey took 3.5 days Mon 6pm to Thurs noon-ish)story was a baggage handlers strike. Then a postal strike in Miami we were crossing the road in front of the camera while shooting, then again in Miami our greyhound bus pass had to be switched to Trailways when greyhound went on strike, who was going into the Trailways office when the camera was shooting - yep - yours truly

Did 10,000 miles in 28 days on that bus pass. 2.5 books of tickets, when usually one will do - value for sure!

Always open to learn more - currently interested in self build techniques using natural materials and harnessing natural energy and waste management. Also trying to set up a project to help new and young writers get published in Ireland
