About Me

CURRENT MISSION

LIFE! Should there be anything else?

ABOUT ME

I'm a workaholic mom who's trying to live up to her dreams and make it all happen while taking care of her family. I'm exploring my own limits and therefore the world's limits as well.

PHILOSOPHY

pacifism, non-violence ... peace and love... reuse/ reduce/ recycle !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

people I've met were always kind, friendly, grateful, humble and cheerful and of the happiest people I have ever met in my life. cs is a great thing.

Interests

work! Not the job but that work put into things that matter.

Travelling.

Yoga. I'm not a yogi who can do all the crazy, gravity-defying poses but I'm slowly working my way there.

Books. Music. Art. I usually find myself reading at least 3 books at the same time (and somehow, I manage to keep up with the storyline). If I find the spare time, I go to a concert or an exhibition.

sustainable lifestyle. I am a vegetarian. I firmly believe in this lifestyle but at the same time, I am not one of those vegans that will ruin your dinner just to make a point! I am very tolerant and open-minded person who knows that everyone has their own choices in life. I've made mine, you make yours.

Singing. Just a heads up - I sing all the time. And when I say ALL the time, I mean it. Songs just get stuck in my head and I re-sign them days after. It's my way of releasing tension. But at the same time, I sing well, so it may not be that annoying.

Music, Movies, and Books

music: pretty much every genre! It changes with the seasons. I grew up on rock music (especially math and post-rock, 60's, folk-rock, and so on). Also, I've had periods of jazz, blues, strictly electronic music. I also have a playlist of my guilty pleasures which no one knows I listen to... I mean, bring it on, give me some tips!
But for the most favourite interprets Hella, Tera Melos, MONO, This Will Destroy You, The Tallest Man on Earth, Hilltop Hoods, first two Mumford and Sons' albums, The National, the latest albums of Beyonce and Rihanna, Diana Krall, Lykke Li, Astronautalis, CHVRCHES, and so on... this is just the short list. I could go on forever...

literature:
books: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings - I know , but I can't help it.; The Star Rover; The Watchmen; The Tracy's Tiger; The Hours...
authors: Elena Ferrante. Emile Zola. Mark Twain. William Saroyan.
And so on, and so on. Check out my Goodreads account if you're interested: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/54087035-gabriela

I don't watch many movies lately. I'd rather watch some series (as there are many great), so e.g. The Handmaid's Tale, Game of Thrones, This is Us, Black Mirror, Chernobyl, and so on. But if we're really talking favourite movies, then I'd go for Interstellar, LOTR trilogy, One Day, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Alien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I didn't do this but it's one of the most amazing things I've witnessed in my life: when my grandfather told my grandmother that he still loved her... after 52 years long marriage ! that is something incredible !!

hiked the Grand Canyon from top to bottom, and back again...

brought my beautiful son to this world and have had him as my guide ever since !

Teach, Learn, Share

Your culture, your language, your experiences, your wisdom... widen my horizons of knowledge!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you basic Czech. It's one of the most difficult languages to learn, so it's a good thing to know, right?

I like to think of myself as someone who knows a bit about many things (and sometimes I'm also opinionated about many things - sorry for that in advance), so we can spend hours chatting about everything. Or anything. Up to you.
