About Me

ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Gaia and I'm 23 years old (: Right now I live in Galway where I am studying for my masters in translation. I would love to translate films and TV shows for a living one day.
I love to travel. I've been dreaming of living in Ireland since I was 15 years old. Well, now I am! (:
I love music, I sing and I played the saxophone for 12 years. Now, living abroad, it's hard to bring it with me!
I also love languages, and English in particular. That's why I decided to go and study translation: now I'm always in contact with a bunch of different languages and that's amazing, I feel so so lucky studying all these different cultures.
I am a very open person and I love to meet new people, especially those who have a story to tell. So, if you're in Galway for a day or two, contact me! (:
I would love to go and visit as many countries as I can, getting to know different cultures and different people, trying to understand other's point of view. I love to wonder about, I have friends all over Italy that I met at various concerts that I've been to, and every time I can I pack my bags and I go visit them, discovering all the cities I end up in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My sister Alice introduced me to Couchsurfing, and I thought that it was a great opportunity to meet new people and get to know as many people as possible, while visiting foreign cities. I just hope people will give me this amazing opportunity.

Interests

I love music, every free moment I have I'm either singing or listening to music. Music calms me and completes me. I would not be the person I am now without the music I listened to through the years and without the concerts I've been to, where I met a lot of people that now I am fortunate enough to call friends.
I also love books, even if I'm very meticulous and I find it hard to find a book I really love. However, I'm always open to suggestions ;)
I love to travel, even if I didn't have a lot of chances to do so. I've been to India with my sister in August 2014 for three weeks and it was an overwhelming experience: after the first days I adjusted just fine and I got the rare opportunity to get to know a completely different world, culture and philosophy at 18 years old.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love fantasy, my favourite movie is The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, while my favourite tv show is Doctor Who.
I also really love music and I go to a lot of concerts. My favourite band is Muse, but I also listen to, for example, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Temples, Placebo, Paolo Nutini, Kasabian, Mumford & Sons and a lot of Irish music, such as Dubliners, Chieftains or Pogues.
I also love music from the sixties or so, such as Jethro Tull, The Doors, Genesis, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, etc.
Lately I have been listening to some more folky acoustic music, go on to Spotify to know what I mean! I have a 10hrs Playlist called depressed indie/folk :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first real life dream was to go and live in Ireland, and now, 8 years later, here I am!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the basics of singing or, if I have a guitar, we can paly and sing together (:

I am not very good at coking, but I know the basics and I can teach you how to make risotto, lasagne and my favourite pasta!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook for you!
I can sing for you or, if you lend me an ukulele or a guitar, play some songs. Music brings people together, when I sing with someone, I'm the happiest person alive!
