Overview
About Me
I've been couch surfing for a LOT of years. I am so excited to know that there is a community that has organized in such a way as to unify needs so TRAVEL HAPPENS!!!!! Thank you to each of you and especially my nephew Wes Young who introduced me to you! I see the global community as a part of me so getting to know folks is big for me! I've lived poor at times and rich on occasion, but it has all been good…wouldn't trade any of it! I taught academics for 17 yrs (K-College) and determined long ago that to be a good teacher I'd have to stay in learning mode…that's where I live... in "a place of learning and exploring".
For a season, I'm concentrating on regaining my mobility which has diminished due to physical trauma through the years. For this reason I'm not hosting at this time. It's just a temporary thing. I'll be back in commission soon!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Wes did it! He told his stories and the rest…history! Couldn't resist the idea of being able to connect with locals who REALLY know the areas I want to travel and care about creating a cohesive community that connects folks in positive, encouraging ways.
Interests
Am focused on a healthy way of living in between a bit of chocolate, a cup of Joe, the occasional homemade chocolate chip cookie, and a GREAT dessert like Wes' mom's Chinese Pie with ice cream. R u hungry yet?
I love a great book, scientific discoveries & inventions; TOTALLY love TED Talks and decorating and designing space in the homes I own or flip. Troubleshooting is a way of life and I find lots of joy when I'm able to assist someone in discovering an answer or meeting a need. One of my favorite joys is making something that functions well out of nothing.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm into classical, ALMOST ANYTHING live, music from years past and totally love being introduced to GREAT music that's new to me. Sat 2 rows back from the conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra on a date when I was young…close enough to see the sweat fly from his forehead and the intense passion on his face…I've been a bit spoiled for live music of all sorts since then!
Action, true life adventures/history /romance, spy thrillers, modern Sherlock Holmes - movies&books
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 1978, I was living in the Rocky Mts of British Columbia teaching the children of a VERY remote tribe of Indians. It was Feb. The six-seater Beechcraft sent to pick us up crashed on the way out of the mts. I survived along with six others.
Teach, Learn, Share
Loving others like you'd like to be loved seems to make the best platform for LIFE, Health and Friendship.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love cooking and would be delighted to prepare a meal for u! I suppose that my Love of LIFE and people is something I can also share. I am a listener so I can do that really well. I've been told I ask good questions. I also love to laugh so I can be a responsive audience! And if you probe, I love to tell my stories, but you need to let me know that you REALLY want to hear them.
