About Me

CURRENT MISSION

working and saving money for my travels

ABOUT ME

Before going further I want to say that I WILL NOT host people that haven’t been Fully Verified and can’t show references.
Neither people that ask for only one night since I do not run a shelter.
I will welcome visitors (no more than one at a time) that can stay for few days so we can have a nice visit and share experiences and do some outings together.—————————————————

My name is Haydee, Gaita is a name from childhood and my Argentinian friends still call me this way. I like to meet cultivated people, well traveled and polite, positive and with good energy. I choose to do not dwell in drama. Life is too short.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN. I had two surfers from my homeland and they were awesome! I will host them again any time, now they are my new friends and we stay in touch. Before Covid I hosted a couple from Milano, Italy. They were absolutely delightful and he cooked pasta and seafood almost every night! At the same time I hosted a guy from Paris, France, so was a very intercultural gathering every night.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a pleasant experience staying in a cottage in Waikiki, met some interesting international travelers, and the host was a very nice Hawaiian man. Great vacation.

Interests

I like to walk and appreciate architecture and art. When I travel I'm very independent and can be by myself exploring for hours, talking to locals, but I’m not Shopping Mall material. Those places are full of things I don’t need. -I have been living in Alaska for near 30 years, therefore I speak english all the time but I miss sometimes having conversations in Spanish which is my first language. Or the chance to practice my poor Italian skills.-

Music, Movies, and Books

Not a fan of Hollywood, prefer foreign movies, from different parts of the world, do not mind the subtitles. Argentinian country songs, Italian, French popular songs, so many, cannot mention all of it. I like to read the Estoicos philosophers and books about world history and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel amazed by the people that I encounter on my journeys. Each one of them is unique, and each place is amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to cook, I like to learn from different ethnics and can teach a little of what I know. I have a big interest in languages, need to practice my poor Italian, French and Portuguese.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a bedroom and bathroom downstairs. I sleep upstairs, so there is some good privacy. I live in a duplex, which means that I have tenants next door sharing a common wall. We have to be quiet and considerate---My family lives next door and they visit on daily bases and you might have the chance to meet them. My sons eventually like to bring their friends over and cook, even tough they have their own apartments but they prefer the size of my kitchen.
I am very social and will like to share a meal, conversation and wine, but do not welcome excess, loud people or smokers of any kind...

SOME SIMPLE HOUSE RULES THAT YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT BEFOREHAND: ————YOU HAVE TO BE A VERIFIED MEMBER OF COUCH SURFING—————-
NO SHOES INSIDE THE HOUSE AND NO SMOKING. Pick up after yourself, do your own dishes and clean before you leave- Bring sheets and towels to the laundry room for me to wash- I will love to show you places...but you need to have your own $ money to expend because I do not pick up somebody else's checks, and gasoline is expensive, so we have to share- I do not take advantage of my hosts when I travel... -- If I do not have money I stay at home--. My home is not a military base but neither the Salvation Army— Be a good ambassador to your country... magic words work wonders: Please, Thank You, Good Morning , etc. ---- It is sad to have to mention this but I have had few unpleasant experiences and very much dislike rude people and rough language---- . If you feel in agreement, you are Welcome!!!
