Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find my tribe and help others find theirs.
ABOUT ME
I'm currently driving throughout the U.S. exploring communities of social entrepreneurship, education, and wellness, to see how they foster courage in their participants. I was a journalist once upon a time so I love witnessing the alchemy of these programs and of the cities where they are located, as well as hearing the stories of the participants and other people I meet.
PHILOSOPHY
Trying to embrace uncertainty and love difficulty. Learning that surrender is harder than it sounds.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I'm surfing as I travel the U.S. on a 40-day roadtrip. I've loved getting to see the cities through the eyes of my CS hosts and am excited to reciprocate the guide experience by hosting once I'm settled in my next home.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A few surfs with fine folk. Ready for more!
Interests
Food, spontaneous fun, and finding a new home or next landing spot. Also, alliteration.

Music, Movies, and Books
Excerpt from Walt Whitman's "Song of the Open Road":
From this hour I ordain myself loos’d of limits and imaginary lines,
Going where I list, my own master total and absolute,
Listening to others, considering well what they say,
Pausing, searching, receiving, contemplating,
Gently, but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the holds that would hold me.
I inhale great draughts of space,
The east and the west are mine, and the north and the south are mine.
I am larger, better than I thought,
I did not know I held so much goodness.
All seems beautiful to me,
I can repeat over to men and women You have done such good to me I would do the same to you,
I will recruit for myself and you as I go,
I will scatter myself among men and women as I go,
I will toss a new gladness and roughness among them,
Whoever denies me it shall not trouble me,
Whoever accepts me he or she shall be blessed and shall bless me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending New Year's Eve on a mountain in Costa Rica with a group of fellow young adventurers watching lava flow from neighboring Arenal. Definitely a different kind of celebratory drop and fireworks.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a knack for plugging into a city's food scene before even arriving, so I often end up taking friends and hosts to tasty, cheap, creative restaurants of which they haven't even heard.
It's harder to get a read from afar on community gathering spots, be it a bookstore, wellness center, writing group, or cafe, so I extra appreciate people who can suggest or take me to these places.
