I am an Alaskan who caught a travel addiction.

I am in love with the world. Travelling keeps me closer to the currents that keep flowing from place to place. My eccentric interests have led me on a somewhat twisting path so far.

I study the relationship between human rights and music in the in-between places of the world.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I live each day trying to better my world around me. I'm open to new ideas and change. Today is the only day I have and, after nearly dying four times, I'm happy with that.

Why I travel:

In Afrikaans there is a beautiful word, Ubuntu. This speaks to the basic connection between us humans: Ubuntu means that I am human because I belong. I participate, I share.

I travel because I believe being part of ubuntu. To put it another way, I travel because I love finding the similar faces, smiles, people, and dreams scattered in strange parts of the world.

I've surfed in many countries and love the CS community! Since I'm living in Barcelona now, I can host again (sometimes. too many other people visit, too). Frankly, though, the CS community has changed a lot since 2009.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Fantastic experiences in the US, Ireland, France, Georgia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro...and more. Amazing friendships, food, and places. I still believe it's best way to travel!

Nudist dinners in Paris, staying with 18 surfers on a beach in Croatia without electricity while losing all sense of time, surfing on a boat through minefields off the coast of Albania... Too many memories.
