Travel light. You won't need much stuff, and if I were wrong, you can buy it (or borrow it). And avoid using Lonely Planet and so... it's better to ask the people around, they are usually better informed and know best.

And, in the worst case, if you really need the Lonely Planet, I can guarantee you that some traveler-pal read it, and did the homework better than you did, and would be happy to share their thoughts. Hehe.
