Overview
About Me
Hello! I'm Galym, an entrepreneur and traveler from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
Starting July 27, I'm exploring Europe on foot and by bus — from Tallinn through Germany, France, Italy, Spain and beyond. I prefer real people and local stories over hotels and tourist spots.
I'm a calm, curious, and respectful guest. I walk 5–6 km a day, enjoy culture, and love sharing about Kazakhstan — a country many still don’t know well.
I believe in mutual hospitality: when you visit Kazakhstan, you're always welcome in my home in Astana 💙
I have three kids and work on tech and cultural exchange projects.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I travel to meet people, not just to take photos.
I'm here to experience real kindness, culture, and everyday life.
I'm also happy to host travelers in Kazakhstan — Couchsurfing should go both ways. If you host me, I will host you when you're in Astana!
Music, Movies, and Books
– Forrest Gump
– The Mirror Has Two Faces
– Gone with the Wind
These films inspire me with their humanity, emotions, and timeless depth.
My taste in music is wide — from classical and jazz to trap and hip-hop.
I listen to anything that has meaning, feeling, or strong musicality.
Sometimes it’s Tchaikovsky, sometimes Kendrick Lamar.
I believe the right book finds you at the right moment — it all depends on what you're going through.
I read across genres, but some of my lasting favorites include:
– Almost everything by Haruki Murakami
– Writings about Abai Kunanbaiuly, Kazakh wisdom and philosophy
– Laozi and Eastern thought
– Stories and reflections by Anton Chekhov
Books for me are not just words — they are companions for life, change, and quiet understanding.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I chose to live consciously — to appreciate simple things, to love life, and to value people in it.
Over time, I realized that the true richness of life is human connection and the experiences we share.
That’s why I’m here — to be closer to people and the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe in three simple things: to teach, to learn, and to share.
Every meeting is a chance to give and receive — knowledge, warmth, perspective, or simply sincere attention.
What I Can Share with Hosts
– Honest stories, open conversation, and kindness
– Full respect for your home and your rules
– Cultural exchange from Kazakhstan
– A simple Kazakh meal, if there's a chance to cook
– Time, gratitude, and good energy
– The ability to listen and really see the person in front of me
