ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly, outgoing(most of the time) person. I enjoy meeting all sorts of new people and trying new things. I'll try almost anything once.

It seems a lot of people don't really have much to say in this area of the profile. I can say whatever I please here, but I think that the best way to find out about someone is to just find out firsthand and meet them yourself!

PHILOSOPHY

I keep an open mind to almost everything I encounter. I try to keep from judging since there is generally much more going on in any given situation than just your reaction to it.

I am always seeking wisdom and new perspectives on life and how I percieve it.

We may forget at times, but life is beautiful, enjoy it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have moved out of my house in Iowa City to live in Leuven, Belgium for three months or more through my job at IDT. While I cannot yet offer a couch, I do have a desire to meet up with new people and make friends wherever I go, starting with Leuven. I will likely be looking for places to stay while I travel Belgium and Europe on the weekends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since living on my own I have hosted many people on my couch, wherever I have lived. It just seems like a natural thing to offer.

On the other hand, when traveling, the best places I have stayed were at other people's homes. One gets a sense of what it is like to live their lives, and that is much more memorable to me. This website is a great way to have that sort of experience.

Interests

Nature is my passion! I am currently an avid Bird Watcher, but I love all sorts of wild life, especially Plants and Amphibians. I love the outdoors. I am also currently in to trying/drinking good beer of all sorts(Belgium is great). I love meeting new people and enjoy a great conversation over good coffee/espresso. I am trying to learn of the finer things in life, not just with beer, and love to share those things with others. I am open to trying new things.

I like electronic music, usually experimental: Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, Prefuse 73, Chris Clark, RJD2, Air, LCD Sound System, Goldfrapp, The Knife, Portishead, Daft Punk, Midnight Juggernauts, more...
I like some stuff with guitars: The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Doves, David Bowie, Peter Bjorn & John, Modest Mouse, The Black Keys
I like Lounge sort of music: Zero 7, Dzihan & Kamien, Plastyk Buddha, Tosca, Hotel Costes, Theivery Corporation, more.

I like what we typically in the US call Independant films. I also like Science Fiction of Many types, and many documentaries.

Most of the things I like are of good quality but don't follow the typical pattern of other things in its category. This could be because I like surprises!

Teach, Learn, Share

I always love to share and build knowledge of my hobbies, most recent are: bird watching, good beer, salamanders/amphibians, general wildlife and outdoors, and computers.

I fix computers on my spare time.

I love to fix other mechanical things(I do it for a living).

I have no problem going over American English(but can fake a British accent if needed).

I would like to learn Flemish/Dutch while in Belgium, Maybe some French eventually.
