About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Turn more lawn into garden beds!

ABOUT ME

I can host one person at a time and need at least a week's notice.

I work as an editor, teach adult enrichment gardening classes, and write a gardening blog (are we seeing a trend yet?). Hey, why isn't "botanical Latin" listed as a language?! ;-)

I'm open-minded and liberal with cross-generational friends, but personally live a quiet, low-key, low-impact lifestyle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've shared my home with short-term paying guests, but am a budget traveler myself (yeah, OK, I'm cheap) and now want to meet other budget travelers. I couch surfed in Denver, and hope to CS while visiting botanical gardens worldwide.

Interests

gardening, writing, teaching, learning, chocolate, nature, cats, wildlife, recycling, repurposing, walking, biking, making my own path in life, ecology, frugality, simple living, retro Danish furniture, design, green roofs, modern art (especially Klee, O'Keeffe, Van Gogh, and Chihuly), organic farming, CSAs, winter seed sowing, heirloom tomatoes, botanic gardens, small towns and big cities, ice cream, vintage 1950s Xmas decorations, too many Xmas lights, German Christmas markets, reading (mostly gardening magazines and blogs), Coronation Street, The Office, and (oh yeah!) traveling

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Releasing balloons over the Berlin Wall in 1986 at a rally commemorating (mourning?) 25 years of the wall. The balloons were set to fly into East Berlin with messages inside saying "We haven't forgotten you. We will be one Germany again." I never dreamed unification would happen at all, let along 4 years later.
