Overview
About Me
I'm a creative person who's always making new work, whether radio, film, fiction or sound / video art. I'm really interested in creative communities, intentional communities, and other ways of bringing wonderful talented people together.
I was one of the earliest members of the Exchange Dublin community, and established Open Learning Ireland, a non-profit education group in Dublin. I'm excited by the possibilities of peer learning and non hierarchical education to enhance individual agency and choice.
My day job is making radio drama and documentaries. You can check them all out for free at my site http://garethstack.com
I live to make work that conveys the diverse, beautiful, grotesque, liberated, conflicted, imprisoned experience of being a twenty first century human. I'm cynically humorous, but a hippy at heart. A better world is possible!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've always wanted to travel the world. In the last couple of years I've finally had the opportunity to see places like Berlin, Ukraine, New York, and Barcelona.
I'm friendly, non-judgemental, and outgoing and I love meeting new people from cultures across the world.
Interests
I love attending underground theatre and arts events, or just walking around a new city and meeting unusual characters.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Experimental electronic music (especially electroacoustic and ambient techno), alt folk / freak folk, post rock, post punk, and Bowie, always Bowie.
Books - I love reading plays, especially modern / contemporary plays, everything from Martin McDonagh to Eugene Ionesco. I also enjoy 'cult novels' (think Palahniuk, Martin Amis, Irving Welsh), the lots of twentieth century poets of Wilfred Owen to Sylvia Plath.
Movies - I'm a huge cinefile - especially a fan of 70's American filmmaking, verbose comedies and mumblecore films. My favourite directors include Alejandro Jodorowsky, Stanley Kubrick, Richard Linklater, Sophia Coppola, Charlie Kaufman, Andrew Bujalski, David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, Paolo Sorrentino... I could go on. I almost left out documentaries! Some of my favourite
