About Me

Hi! Welcome to my profile. I hope you like it.

I'm a 27 year old Canadian, born and raised, and I've spent the past few years living and traveling in Asia.

I love meeting new people, learning cool words and phrases in different languages,

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There's nothing I love more about hosting than getting the chance to meet and talk with people from all over the world.

Interests

I love learning languages, and playing music. While traveling, I like picking up new words and phrases, and playing guitar and ukulele with complete strangers.

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, I love ska (Planet Smashers, Sublime, Bedouin Soundclash), Canadian folk (Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts) and Japanese drone metal (Sunn O))), Boris).

I love American experimental fiction, like David Foster Wallace and magical realism, like Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabael Allende. I'm reading a lot of Japanese books at the moment, including Haruki Murakami, Banana Yoshimoto and Yukio Mishima.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2011, I walked for six days with a friend across northern England, from Carlisle to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, following the old Roman fortifications of Hadrian's Wall. We brought a tent, a cooking set, and camped out in copses along the way. One night, we couldn't find any trees to stake our tent to, so we knocked on someone's door to set our tent up in their back yard. By the end of the walk, my feet were all blistered and I could barely walk, but I felt so good.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like sharing songs from Canada and ones I've picked up along the way. I like learning local cuisine and recipes, so I can test them out back home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can swap travel stories, guacamole recipes, and English grammatical rules.
