ABOUT ME
I am 28, curious as ever to travel the world. I cannot think of a place or subject that I would not find interesting to visit/know about.I basically want to eat life up as much as possible.Keep trying to find new avenues to be able to meet and experience new things.I love rock climbing and especially being in Nature. I grew up in Bogota, an enormous city. I love cities for what each one has to offer, but nature is so full of peace and balance when undisturbed. I have lived through many different fantastic and also very hard experiences. But each has made me who I am, someone who I think knows when to look around and appreciate what he has around but recognize that for many others the world has been harsher.
PHILOSOPHY
Compassion for people who have made mistakes, we all have. Love for the world and its beings. Active interests in everything, from the right angle or teacher nothing is boring or uninteresting. Life is a great gift, and can be taken away in an instant, live it well.
If you are strong, help the weak, if you are weak, comfort those weaker.
One of my favorite Noam Chomsky quote: 'The prevailing ideology is one where a person's human rights are measured by what they can get for themselves in the market.'
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have not been that active on the traveling side since I joined CS but have had a few great guests and really enjoyed them. I love travel and meet new people and especially like to be in situations with new people and sooth the tension over with some jokes. I have recommended it to so many of my friends off on their voyages and plan to be a long standing member.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Great!! I have met really nice people with different backgrounds. Also, a french CSer came to Montreal to live and I got to help him set up his life here as much as possible. we are good friends now and it feels so great to help people out and learn the volumes of knowledge, culture and experience within each and every person(i believe it, but realize i may sound a little corny)
Interests
I rock climb. For the past year it has been my passion as I get better I love it even more. The experience of being in beautiful isolated place in nature, the thrill and adrenaline of the sport, and just how laid back and cool most people in the climbing community are.
Biking is another passion of mine.In Montreal, there is a fantastic bike culture and even through cold it is possible to bike almost all year round (at -20C I take the bus). I also play squash, which I like for its intensity, competition and the fact that in canada is great indoor winter sport, besides climbing of course.
Politics, international affairs, economics, and history make up big parts of not just my work but also of my interests in knowing what's REALLY happening in the world, or at least, informing myself to have educated opinions.
Ohh I like cooking and hosting as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
With the United Nations Development Project our team at the time created true poverty reduction projects in conflict zones in Colombia. The basis of the projects was to learn from people on what they needed, and learn I did. But the end result of providing mediums for people under duress from war and lack of formal education to learn, apply and benefit their communities and families was really extraordinary.
Also, Ice climbing frozen waterfalls in Quebec!! Try it, it's crazy and amazing!
