About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to explore, learn and grow as a person and human being.

ABOUT ME

My friends would say that I'm honest, loyal, outgoing, eccentric, chill, personable and deep. I am real easy going and a simpleton at heart. I believe that people are good and they just need to be given the opportunity to prove it. I am helpful to those around me but believe deeply in respecting others personal space and belongings.

PHILOSOPHY

I consider myself a Zen-Taoist. A mixing of Buddhist and Taoist philosophies. Really I believe in treating people the way that I want to be treated. Respecting everything in this world as a soul and knowing that all is one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

*update*
After the trip to Thailand I realized that I loved traveling so much and was not willing to stop. I spent 6 months in Southeast Asia, returned to the states and traveled the west coast for 6 months, and am now getting ready for a year in Australia, followed by 6 months in Europe. Maybe I'll stop moving eventually ;)

*update*
Did the year in Australia. And then walked the Camino De Santiago in Spain. Back in Alaska planning the next adventure.

*update*
After 3 years back at home hosting many surfers, I am off into the world again. First back over to Europe for three months with an attempt at the Via Francigena and them back to the lower 48 to backpack around for a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed one time in Australia and had an amazing experience.

I have hosted a fair amount of surfers here in Alaska and do consider myself a pretty good host. I enjoy getting to know people and being helpful to others. I hope that this karma makes its way back to me as I venture out in the world again.

Interests

I like to walk, hike, snowboard, climb, long board. I enjoy deep intellectual conversations about everything possible. I enjoy meeting other people and learning their take or view on life. I like to be social and at times I like to be alone. I find that a great conversation at the top of a mountain can be just as good with someone as it can be with your self. I believe in a continuing personal growth when referring to social interactions and always working towards becoming a better person in any way possible. I also like puzzles. =)

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all movies except for scary ones. And all music really. I like to find music that is not mainstream and I generally lean towards electronic music. There is a place in my heart for some special rock bands and rap groups that i will always enjoy. Disturbed, Led Zeppelin, Roots, Tribe Called Quest, Kings of Leon and so on. I will read anything I find interesting, i wont read true crime but i do like non-fiction books of personal growth stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving from California to Alaska on a whim was pretty amazing. I took only what I could fit in my truck and journeyed for 9 days to make the move. I recommend anyone who likes trees to drive through the redwood forest. The size of these trees are amazing.

I have walked the Camino De Santiago.

Helli-boarding in the Chugach range, Palmer, Alaska.
