About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To move better, see more, make more, and support the communities that support me.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Californian addicted to travel, language, and creating; who has little money, few needs, fewer obligations, so much to learn, and a thirst for everything new.

PHILOSOPHY

What we look for defines how we see.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I'm unfortunately not in a situation to offer a couch. But I'm excited to participate in the community, share whatever local knowledge I might have with fellow travelers, and meet new people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I'm almost a complete newbie. I did, however, meet some couchsurfers in Saigon, who took me along to meet up with a local they met through the site. She took us to a delicious dinner, introduced us to her friends at a cool bar, and inspired me to join the community.

Interests

Writing, reading, travel, art, yoga, beach volleyball (though I haven't played in a while), surfing, mediation, and ideas/people who change the way I see.

Music, Movies, and Books

Everything by Nietzsche; The Sun Also Rises; Ben Lerner; Cortazar; JD Salinger; Faulkner; Rumi; ee cummings; Neruda; Joyce; Milosz; Baudrillard is a mad genius; Zelda Fitzgerald wrote a hell of a letter to her husband about losing her mind; Bukowski had a bluebird in his heart (and a gutter in his mouth); DFW was an addict in all the best and worst ways; and McCullers wrote poems that look like novels.

Movies are cool. I like music, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once spent ten days in silence in the Rajastani desert, watching every sunrise and sunset, and meditated 100 hours before speaking again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic web design, English, and a few corny jokes.
I'm always eager to learn new art skills, and Spanish!
I love sharing art, meals, laughs and stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I cook well (and better every day); I'm full of stories; people tell me I'm a good listener. If you're an artist, I edit an online magazine and I'd love to share your work with our community; and most days I'm spilling over with a profusions of smiles.
