Overview
About Me
Born and raised in Maine, came to Florida in 2018 for work and always looking to explore! I enjoy the outdoors and am always trying to be more self-sufficient and learn new things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really enjoy exploring and traveling but I have also found I enjoy life the most when I'm able to share it with other people. So I am on Couchsurfing to both find more friends and activities locally but also to make more connections and friendships when I'm traveling. I am trying to explore Florida and the southeast as much as I can while I'm here! I also have experience Couchsurfing once before, but didn't use it for a long while and I think my previous account went dormant.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bonus - podcasts! I spend a lot of time commuting, so podcasts are definitely my most consumed medium: The Daily, Planet Money, Science in Action, Bon Appetit Foodcast, Radiolab, 13 Minutes to the Moon, Discovery, Inside the Musician's Brain, The Argument
Music: all kinds, especially bluegrass (The Infamous Stringdusters), country, folk
Movies: I'm not a big movie watcher, but when I do I enjoy war or spy/espionage movies (Band of Brothers, Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, Enemy of the State, 007s, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger)
Books: Mostly nonfiction - The Art of Fermentation, The Source: How Rivers Made America (Martin Doyle), The World as It Is (Ben Rhodes), The Spy and the Traitor (Ben Macintyre)...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Wrote a bill and passed it into law!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have been improving my fermentation skills (shoutout Brad Leone). Ginger beer, sauerkraut, working on sourdough. Much pre-dating my fermentation experimentation, I know a fair bit about local foods, sustainable foods, home composting. (I lived on my good friend's organic farm for a year or so)
I know a fair amount about water, water quality, water policy, regulation, drinking water, stormwater, you name it...
I would like to learn/improve upon my handyman skills, I know a decent amount but have never had a home or shop where I could really put it into practice. I took a furniture making course in college so know my way around tools.
I would also like to improve upon my French. I know a bit from high school/college but it takes me a while to recall it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be glad to share my knowledge in the environmental field. More practically, I could try to share my handyman skills and would love to help with a project if I can. More than happy to share food-related knowledge too (fermentation, composting).
And I hope I can share a laugh or two!
