Overview
About Me
I am a married 56 year old with 3 great kids. Emma is the oldest, about to turn 15 while the twins are both 13. Ashford is a small and rural town in the northeastern part of Connecticut where I live in the house my grandfather built in 1940. We are about 7 miles from the University of Connecticut, 33 miles from Hartford, 150 miles to New York City and 80 miles from Boston.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In the 80's I was fortunate enough to pick up a young lady hitch hiking in England. She offered me a place to stay and a meal at her parents house if I brought her there so not having any pressing engagements I did. It was the most wonderful experience! I completely enjoyed the company of that family, everything about it. Being off the beaten touristy path felt like a more real experience. They even took me to a family reunion.
So, pan forward X years and I am considering taking my 15 year old daughter on an adventure. For her and I, the adventure would be that much better if we could meet and get to know people on a deeper level.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After reading some of these profiles I feel like my life has been on the boring side. Perhaps these profiles will motivate me to use that new passport I have.
So, with that in mind one thing I did that I am proud of is I pedaled 28 miles uphill to the top of Mt. Evans in Colorado. It was 6700 feet of elevation gain in that 28 miles.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Up to two people can fit in either our house or our travel trailer that sits in the yard.
Regarding food, if you are traveling from Europe and hope to get some food like substances with yellow dye #5, blue dye #4 and the like you will not find it at my house. We try to keep our diet on the healthy side. All five of us are vegetarians though we do have eggs and cheese... so whatever that makes us.
