About Me

I am a restless person (not the typical American). That being said, I love traveling more than anyone I know in the states. I take way to many risks in life but feel sometimes you need to do that to live. I love everything old and everything new. From modern art to Bernini statues. I love people, especially love meeting new people. I try to get to know as many as I can. I feel it makes me a better person to engage with strangers and it offers up a deep seated love for knowledge and life. Especially with different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. I found I get along with everyone. I am very outgoing and love to try new foods ( anything ) places or ... just about anything. I don't want to have one foot in the grave and remember.. oops i always wanted to try... too late!? I have never smoked in my life and never will. I have never done drugs or ever will. I have had maybe 20 beers in 40 years. However.. I'm a scotch man. Whiskey and wine all the way. I'm not interested in getting drunk but do like to have fun. I am a pilot and own a Cessna 172. I fly across the united states for fun. I also enjoy making things, wood, steel, anything.. well not paper mache . I am easy going and usually have fun everywhere I go. I have friends from all over the world who keep in touch. I love animals and children. as you can see from my profile pics. I have 6 children and 3 grandchildren right now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why not couch surf? I have been to so many places through the years and most of the time, I have a hotel and car. Drive to see sites and then leave. Its nothing like meeting people and getting immersed into a place or culture. It is such a reward doing this. I have made friends in multiple countries now and some of them I only knew for 1 day yet after 6 years, they still email me and keep up with me. That is a gift that is way better than staying inside and keeping to yourself. I have hosted people from Spain and Singapore but not through this site. It was amazing. I learned a lot and had so much fun answering questions and taking them shopping. It just makes you want to do it more and more. I have not yet had a bad experience. However, I know they are out there. I like to think that travelers like us usually are down to earth good people with similar goals in life... to see as much of this planet as possible. Soon I will be ASA certified and will be getting rid of my plane for a sail boat. I'm dreaming of sailing for 2 or 3 years starting around 2020. Hopefully if that happens, I will have people to take along on some of the stops.
Cheers

Music, Movies, and Books

Gesh! a lot of music. I love everything. Unless its loud screaming where I cant understand it. This category is hard because I have so many favorites. I think tho Beethoven 5 secretes done by the Piano Guys is the best song ever. Game of Thrones and Vikings are my favorite things to watch on T.V.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learn to Fly.... Still not as amazing as watching children grow up and become men and women. Being a good Father is my best accomplishment.
