Retired military and proud grandpa. Likes are varied.

PHILOSOPHY

I try not to pre judge and keep an open mind. If something is legal, I am apt to try it. When in Netherlands I enjoy a smoke now and then. I am around 6' and 200 pounds. Fight to keep a gut off, but at times I am a round or two behind. Color of hair is mostly transparent with a little gray... have short beard with mustache. Can be happy with very little, just need to have a shower daily and to keep clean. Other than that can roam and sleep in parks, on busses, trains etc.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At present, I am gathering info here, and trying to see what kind of feedback I get. If someone wanted to come to Illinois, I would make arrangements to put them up for a few days

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never couch served. I did hook up with a family though and spend the month of Jan 2000 in Perth Australia. It was nice, and I could see doing this often if it were a viable option.

I like historical type books. Oldies in music, and movie likes are varied

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Guess this would have to come on one by one basis after a couple drinks ha ha... I have been in hurricanes/typhoons, have climbed Mt. Fugi, have helped in evacutations, have seen mud slide in the Philippines, have fought in a war, and have seen both the good and the bad in mankind. Rented a car in Sweden and drove up through Norway in the winter, drove well past artic circle, and tasted whale, moose, and other foods.

Teach, Learn, Share

Live and let live. Being in military for 21 years have seen and done lots of things. Important to attempt to accept people for what and who they are. Wish I had an apptitude for languages, but with exception of some Japanese, English is about it.
