About Me
Hello, my name is Brother Gasper and I am a member of the Benedictine Monks based in Sumbawanga in western Tanzania. We are dedicated to community development in our local area and work hard to create a better future for those less well off. We love having guests from different backgrounds that can share our experience and skills and learn from each other.
We have already accommodated in Mvimwa Abbey many people from different countries (Italy, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Spain), mostly volunteers that stayed with us for couple of weeks, even months. Even if you don't want to volunteer and/or don't have so much time to spend with us, you are most welcome. We value above all the international experience, knowledge and connections that we gain from our foreign visitors. What we can offer is a true experience of the life of the local people of Tanzania. Our Abbey is situated in a peaceful rural area, 65 km from Sumbawanga. It is also close to lake Tanganyika and Katavi National Park.
You do not need to be Catholic or any religion to stay with us. The most important thing for us is that you feel comfortable during your stay.
Countries I’ve Visited
