About Me
Hello everyone, my name is Gaston and I'm from Montevideo Uruguay, I like to travel, meet new people and share experiences/culture, I like music A LOT, I am a big metal fan (almost all genres), I also like to read about many different subjects, such as science, history, and pretty much anything that helps me understand the world we live in and also society as a whole, I am very open minded.
I am originally from Montevideo Uruguay and currently live in San Jose de Carrasco, Canelones (which is a coastal town near Montevideo), but I also lived all my teens (well, from 13 'till the age of 21) in New Jersey, in the United States, so I feel like I am a little bit of both cultures, Uruguayan roots and a little bit of American and worldwide cultures here and there (New Jersey has a lot of people from different countries and cultures)
I especially like Couch Surfing because of how used I am to interact with other cultures on a daily basis, I lived in a very multi-cultural city in the US.
I could go on and on with more, but I feel it is better to meet someone personally in order to have a better idea of who someone is.
I do not follow any particular pattern in life, if somethings picks my interest, I pursue it or at least I try to!
I can talk about different things but I also like to listen to what people have to say, I am open in sharing both good AND bad experiences, I believe after all that all types of experience make us who we are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I mentioned previously, I like couchsurfing because A): I get to meet people sometimes from all around the world, share culture and find out how they live and they can find out how I live.
And B): I like to travel and it's nice to meet people who actually live in the cities/countries I visit to have a proper understanding of what it's like to be a local there, if just for a few days.
My Girlfriend Angela and I have both hosted and surfed on other people's couches/rooms before.
I have been to Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay
I have lived in Uruguay and the United States.
Interests
Music, music and more music!! I am no musician actually (haha) but I am a very musical person, I like most sub-genres of metal, rock from the 60's, 70's, 80's, some industrial, some 80's new wave and pop, some old-school punk, some classical composers (although I've been interested in classical for more than ten years, I am only REALLY getting into it now), some blues and jazz here and there etc.
I am also a very chaotic thinker, I read extensively about a lot of different subjects without following any particular pattern, one moment I might be reading about the possible events that would lead to WW3...or about Quantum Mechanics and space/time.
Mainly, I read just about anything that helps me understand a little more about life, the world, the human condition etc.
Oh...and FOOOOODDD!!!, I have tried food from many different countries and I'm looking forward to trying more!

Music, Movies, and Books
Black/Death/Heavy/ Metal, some gothic rock and metal, classic rock mainly from 60's-80's, some jazz/fusion, some blues, some classical composers, 80's pop and new wave.
But my "base" genre is metal music, I've been to countless concerts in the US, Uruguay and Argentina.
Not a movie buff, but I do enjoy quite a few movies, I live with my girlfriend and she IS a BIG movie buff so I have watched quite a lot of movies lately.
I mainly like films that deal with "strange" or "out there" subjects, and also "simpler" movies to just have a fun night with friends or girlfriend, food or drink a few beers. Movies can be either mainstream or independent, I do not follow a particular pattern in this either...
Movies such as: Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, the first The Butterfly Effect, They Live, Lost Highway, Interstellar, 2001: A Space Oddysey, Total Recall, Somewhere In Time, The Time Machine (both original and remake), the first The Matrix movie, etc etc etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm...hard to name just one, specially because these things can be very subjective.
I would say some of the concerts of my favorites bands that I've been to have been some of the most amazing experiences in my life, but another one was traveling through South America with my girlfriend would definitely be another amazing thing I've done.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share mine and my girlfriends's place, kitchen, living room etc., I can teach Spanish, I can show people around the area.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can show you some of the best areas around, we can talk about music, culture, society etc. over a few beers and/or wine with some music in the background...or it can be loud if preferred!
My girlfriend Angela and I can offer a private room, an extra bed and sheets etc., and also the kitchen, living room area and a spare key.
I can also offer a cool and very laid back environment, we can't promise it will always be tidy though!
