Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see and do. And eat. All in good company.
ABOUT ME
People tell me I smile a lot. I have trouble leaving a bookstore empty-handed, love savoring long meals eaten outdoors, and can be fairly goofy at times. I really like old stuff - architecture, antiques, people - and wish US culture had more reverence for age, the long-term, and durability. In this vein, I'm a hospice volunteer.
What else? Like you, I'm adventurous, also quiet, inquisitive, quirky, nontraditional, straightforward, fun-loving....
I enjoy using all the senses to know the world. I like to garden and cook. I tend to listen more than talk. I enjoy meeting people but hate small talk. I like walking, hiking, landscapes, being outside.
PHILOSOPHY
Keep it simple. Live and let live, whenever possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted and been hosted - all great experiences, and rewarding.
After a few years as a basic member (and nomad), I Verified. I appreciate this community of people, and the home-grown services and connections it provides.
Interests
I like to try everything once, and some things several times more. Jack of all trades, Master of none. Laugh every day. Read every day. Eat in more than out.

Music, Movies, and Books
Yes, yes, and yes. I dig most all of it.
movies: art/foreign/intellectual thrillers/action (car chases!)/etc....
music snapshot: Florence and The Machine, Nina Simone, The Killers, James Brown, Robert Plant, Simon and Garfunkel, Yo Yo Ma, Miles Davis...
books: mostly non-fiction
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Learning to surf in the waves where it was first brought to the US, in Santa Cruz. Emerging from a train into a blacked-out Granada (electricity went out!), and having to make my way to my lodging in the dark. Cycled winding country roads in Italy.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always up for learning what other people excel at or take a particular interest in. I can share the random experiences and knowledge I've gained in my life and travels. I can share recipes and cooking techniques. I can help with your garden. I've tried a lot of things, and so can offer a little bit of knowledge about a lot of things.
