About Me

Hey beautiful people, I’m Gaurav, work 9-5 as designer, and travel, explore, learn in the remaining time. I cherish the tranquility of being in the woods, where I can immerse myself in nature. Camping in the wild allows me to connect deeply with the environment and experience its raw beauty. My travels are always purposeful, driven by a quest to uncover deeper meanings in life. Through these journeys, I seek to understand myself and the world better.

My Story
In 2007, unfortunately, I was hit by a truck. I consider the 14 minor and 2 major fractures as a blessing. After 2 major operations and flap & plastic surgery, with 4 external fixations, I was able to put my first step again on earth after 11 months.

I started travelling in the Himalayas since 2009 and found my special connection with the mountains. In December 2016, I started my Mountains Are Calling YouTube channel with my friends to encourage and influence more people to travel. After I started my channel, I travel to digitally document my travels.

I’m a traveller now… travelling has given meaning to my life and has even forced me to learn new things every day… photography, videography, storytelling, voiceover, editing and many other things.

The smell of deodar and a view of the forest, the enchanting beauty of snow clad mountains… I just want to be there. There are many reasons for my travels, the most common thing in all of them is my love with the Himalayas.

Travelling is about taking a journey into yourself, to know more about your soul and body. I travel only in the mountains but it’s not only about the mountains. It’s also about the culture, it’s about the people, it’s about the feel. It’s about just being there to feel that moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Solivagant at Dayara Bugyal

After asking a couple of locals, I finally found the path and started the hike from Barsu Village at 02:00 pm.
I found localities and consulted them if it was safe to go solo. I even asked them about wild animals and after getting completely convinced with their advice, I started the trek.
After two and a half hours when I reached Barnala Lake, I realized that I am the only one there.
My Experience of solo camping of the last trek to Karere Lake has helped me to take a decision to stay there.
The sun was hurrying to meet the horizon so I pitch, my tent.
It was the first time in my life I was camping alone at the campsite. (I have done it before but there were many people camping around.)
This was the time to use all the experience and knowledge.
I scavenged around the area for enough wood for a fire, cooked a quick dinner, and put all the food in the small bag, and hang it on a pillar of the temple, which was just next to the Barnala Lake.
After some photography and some notes, It was time to get into the tent and sleeping bag. The sound of night forest was scariest. Somehow, I passed the night; came out many times to photography and to add more wood to keep the fire alive.

The morning was so beautiful that you will get addicted to planning such kinda treks again and again.
Before leaving, I thanked the place, Lord Shiva & Mother Nature, and finally started climbing and completed it as planned.

When I was a kid,
I always dreamed that I'm flying.
Now I'm understanding,
the meaning of those dreams.

In this solo trek,
I loved the feeling of freedom,
and isolation.
It was one hell of a scary night,
but a tempting one !
Anyway,
Let’s face it,
I’m addicted...
