About Me

I am the guy who has his priorities straight.
Work hard, party harder - a cliche, but ya, that's me.

I believe it is absolutely necessary for one to find and follow his/her passion. When passion meets perseverance, that's when magic happens! Still exploring what I'd love to accomplish in life. For now, I just started working in Microsoft, a kick-ass company that takes very good care of its employees. But, what would I like to so in a few years from now? Is it cooking or investment banking? Hard choice, don't you think?

I am also the guy who enjoys meeting new people, especially those with a good sense of humour. Maybe that's why I am cut out for a Sales & Marketing job. Great conversations over a cup of piping hot coffee or chilled beer are is what I look forward to. Wherever I go.

Apart from this, I love to travel and read as much as I can. My favorite fictional characters are Dumbledore and Tyrion Lannister (obviously!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At a very young age of 12, once when I was traveling back to my boarding school, a 2500 miles journey by train all by myself, I was feeling very sad and homesick. I did not want to go back. This was when a middle-aged woman (Neha aunty) comforted me by telling me why it was important for me to go back. It wasn't something, I didn't know. But the warmth and tenderness with which she explained all of this to me cheered me up a lot. Over the gruelling journey of the next two days, she offered food to me and took care of me like I was her child.

The point I'm trying to make is that some of the most memorable times in my life have been spent with complete strangers, whom I befriended and trusted. I've also learnt a lot from them. An army man telling me about the struggles on the border, a young boy confessing why he loved cartoon, a girl majoring in psychology explaining Maslow's need hierarchy theory and so on.

I want to create more such experiences for myself and be part of other people's memories. Being new on Couchsurfing, I am not sure to what extent will this goal be met. But, I am sure this is a great way to socialize with new people.

Interests

Cooking - I mostly cook Indian food, with some experiments with the Pasta. Pure vegetarian food, of course. Occasionally, cheese & mushroom omlettes.

Reading - I am avid reader and have read books from Dan Brown (Deception Point, Angels & Demons, Da Vinci Code etc), Paulo Coehlo ( The Alchemist, Brida, Devil & Miss Pyrm etc), Jeffrey Archer (False Impression, 12 red herrings etc), John Grisham, R.K. Narayan etc.

Travelling - Been to many places within India (Goa< Kashmir< Bangalore

Music, Movies, and Books

No specific genre of music, any beat that gets me going. To name a few bands,
Metallica, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Three Doors Down, Backstreet Boys etc.

Oh, I love watching movies! I can give you an endless list. But at the top of my head, Interstellar, Batman Trilogy, Shawshank Redemption, Black Swan, Inside Job, The Big Short, The Prestige, Blood Diamond, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Great Gatsby and so on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am truly moved by the stark income inequalities in developing countries like India. For the last three years, I have been volunteering at an NGO called Nirmaan which works in the areas of Skill development and Employment Creation in some of the most backward sections of the Indian society. This experience has been amazing to say the least. I think I have learnt much more from Nirmaan, than what I have contributed!

Teach, Learn, Share

Depends on what the other person is interested in sharing. I can discuss a broad range of subjects like day-to-day happenings, academic ideas, technology, emotional well-being, spirituality etc etc.

More like a Jack of all trades, Master of none.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My wonderful collection of Ebooks! :)
