About Me

I am a grandmother and a college student in an on-line college, taking psychology. I have spent the last year taking in homeless people on a temporary basis. I have one paying lodger right now, we share kitchen and bathroom. I love music and art and those who do music and art. I love to talk philosophy, spirituality, religion (but not politics), science and other fascinating subjects. I believe in the Bible, keep the seventh day Sabbath and the biblical feasts, and the biblical diet (no pork or shellfish in my home). I am a proponent of medical marijuana. Quilting and sewing is on my list of things to get back to. I have some experience but not formal training in ASL (American Sign Language). Also, I have a puppy in training.
One stipulation about timing: I keep the seventh day Sabbath, which is Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. During this set apart time I and my household (including guests) use this 24 hours to rest and reflect and read. No work is done, no buying or selling is engaged in. If I take a guest that encompasses the Sabbath, WHILE UNDER MY ROOF, I expect them to comply with these rules. Of course if a guest leaves the house, what they do on Saturday is their own business.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced to couchsurfing by one of my recent traveling guests who connected me with a small family who stayed at my home for 4 nights; it was a great experience! I am open to more guests if the timing is correct for all. I may use Couchsurfing myself when I go home to Washington state to visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like christian music, indie, 60's and 70's music, folk music, classical music, world music and others. One song I like a lot is Wolf Larson's "If I Be Wrong". I used to read a lot but now I read for college instead. I loved the classics like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre; Dickens ; and Jane Austen but also more contemporary writing. Movies, to many to mention but I loved the Princess Bride; Tuck Everlasting, and everything by M. Night Shyamalan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Picking myself back up after a terrible separation with my spouse; started driving cab within a month and then worked two jobs on two sides of the state until I moved to Missouri. Started college after a year had passed. I was married for 37 years to the same man.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach beginning guitar lessons, basic crochet, and a few ASL signs. I can share lots of info about psychology and spiritual concepts, some cooking and homemaking tips. Life wisdom is my forte and I am a confidant to many.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am good at helping out with chores and shopping. I always have a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear with a warm hearted, supportive, response.
