We (my Fiancee John and I) are retired and love it. I worked in many different jobs and fields in my lifetime, the most recent being an I.T. tech for 17 years. He was an auto guy (exotic cars) and still loves and knows them. I guess you could say we're old hippies who wound up working for a living, and now we're happy to just "be" again. Pretty basic.

We live near the beach in a modest mobile home in Carpinteria. It's a small town just south of Santa Barbara in California, and about 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

John's 27 year old daughter is home from college most weekends.

Carpinteria is a no-smoking city, and we are a no-smoking family. Alcohol is OK.

If you agree with the Donald Trump or Ted Cruz philosophy, don't bother contacting us. I can't help it. Those guys are scary. For real.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We like to travel, although we don't have the cash to do much these days. We'd like to have a nice reference profile so that we can do some surfing myself in the years to come. We'd like to offer people a cheaper way to travel, and a local view of our town. Then when we go out, maybe we can stay with someone who will help us the same way.

We love rock, blues, jazz, New Orleans sounds, some blues-country hybrids, reggae, and... lots of music. Old American Blues is my favorite. Not thrilled with rap.

I like pretty much any kind of movie except slasher flicks. Those creep me out.
