About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To try new things, new foods, new challenges.
To meet new people, make new friends and new experiences.
To make new connections and have the chance to give back to those who have helped me on CS and HelpX.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the city of Hull in Yorkshire, England and come from a family who seem pretty keen on exploring the world. My father was in the navy, my sister currently lives in Iceland and my mother frequently goes abroad for business.

Once I finished college I decided it was my turn to experience the wonders of the world and jetted off to Japan for 6 months. It was a difficult, yet rewarding journey and since returning home I was always edging to go back. So after completing my degree at Huddersfield University I joined the JET programme.

I worked on the JET programme for 5 years and the. Returned to England with an aim to travel around Europe meeting new interesting people.

PHILOSOPHY

I think its always worth trying things at least one, whether it's a food, a place or something else.

I also think that it's important to learn from others and see life through their eyes. CS is a great opportunity for me to do that and to learn and grow :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a new member, but CS seems like a good way to achieve what I want in Japan, so through word of mouth and positive experiences I will be able to talk about how good it really is.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

1. Kobe, Japan - Surfed with Anne
2. Kyoto, Japan - Surfed with Masashi
3. Osaka, Japan - Surfed with Vivian
4. Okinawa, Japan - Surfed with Maki

So far all my experiences have been amazing and the hosts have been so welcoming. I hope when I have the opportunity I can return the favourtoo.

Interests

I love drawing and most things art/design related, i.e 3D animation, painting, invention etc. I also like to play the piano and guitar (even though I can't actually play them)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Breakfast Club, The Prestige, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Leon, Ghibli movies and pratically anything with Paul Giamatti or Phillip Hoffman in.

Books - Flowers for Algernon, Pillars of the Earth, Fight Club, To Kill a Mockingbird and anything by Paul Auster or Terry Pratchett.

Music - Pretty much anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well 2 things spring to mind. The strangest amazing thing was when I competed in the naked man contest in Okayama. Nothing like getting crushed in a horde of semi naked men whilst I battle for sticks to make you think about things in life.

And the most stupidest amazing thing was when I climbed up the wall of a Japanese castle at night....

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a lot of stories and give advice if you ever travel to Japan. I can even attempt to make my famous chilli or potato and ham soup :D

Countries I’ve Visited

Cyprus, France, Ireland, Italy, Malta, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
